Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and all other special occasions in this remarkable abode, a vast country house with space for extended families and large groups of friends to spread out and indulge in refined comfort. The 800-acre estate is yours to explore, showcasing the tranquil waters of Barscobe Loch, the impressive waterfall at Garple Glen and Barscobe Hill, which boasts panoramic views of the surrounding Dumfries and Galloway countryside. Loch Ken is around 5 miles away, a destination for more fishing or for embracing some fun water sports, and you’ll find New Galloway Golf Club (4 miles) on the brink of the loch, inviting you to enjoy an afternoon of golf. The boundary of Galloway Forest Park lies a little further ahead (4.5 miles). This ancient forest offers a wide variety of outdoor pursuits, including wildlife spotting and the chance to stargaze at the UK’s first Dark Sky Reserve.

Inspired by the original aesthetics of an old hunting lodge, this stunning property has been maintained with dark wood panelling, original fireplaces and antique furnishings that lend the place a traditional feel. On entering, notice the grand hallway - an impressive space with an open fire, comfortable seating and a pool table. Off this room, the sitting room, drawing room and dining room provide three spaces for relaxation, each designed with ample comfortable seating and an open fireplace. You’ll find a TV/DVD and Bluetooth speakers in the sitting room, allowing you to rest and recharge after a game of pool. Along the hall, a fourth space for relaxation can be found in the cosy snug - a fantastic place to slip away in search of a little peace and quiet. Opposite it, the farmhouse-style kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, centred around a large kitchen island. A breakfast table here creates an easy space for casual mealtimes, while the dining room plays host to celebratory dinners. Completing the ground floor, a separate utility room, boot room and downstairs WC add convenience to your stay. Take the grand staircase up to the first floor when it’s time to retire, where you’ll discover 11 bedrooms decorated with sumptuous floral accents and antique furnishings. There are two super-king-size bedrooms, one of which features an en-suite bathroom with a deep, luxurious bath. The next bedroom is a fantastic double room with an impressive four-poster bed, and two single bedrooms can also be found in this wing. These rooms are served by a refreshing family bathroom. Another two bedrooms are paired together, both twins served by a second family bathroom. In the final wing of the house, the remaining four bedrooms are served by a third family bathroom. These consist of a double, two singles and a twin.

Having admired the gardens from the comfort of the house, step outside and spend some time in the sunshine. The manicured lawn provides the perfect setting for warmer afternoons, complete with outdoor furniture and plenty of grassy space for ball games.
