Hiking, biking, fishing and a wide array of water sports are all on offer close to this Norwegian-style lodge that’s ready to accommodate six guests in comfort and style. The property is located just a short walk from the sea, in the village of Kippford, a sailing hotspot on the Solway Coast. The picturesque village boasts a sailing centre where you can embark on boat trips along the Urr Estuary or stay on the shoreline and admire the boats bobbing in the distance. Moving inland, spend time exploring Dalbeattie Forest (3 miles), home to a 7stanes mountain biking track that’s sure to get the blood pumping, along with pretty trails through the forest, with the chance to spot resident wildlife. After your adventure, the town of Dalbeattie (3.5 miles) invites you for a restful afternoon of browsing local shops and popping into a pub or restaurant.

Interior and exterior wood panelling give this single-storey abode an authentically rural feel, inspired by a traditional Scandinavian lodge. From the decking, make your way inside to find a wonderful open-plan living space with plenty of room for all guests to settle in. Comfortable sofas and armchairs provide ample seating, arranged around a wood burner-effect electric fire that adds a cosy glow. A TV/DVD provides entertainment, and you’ve also got the dining table to gather around for a family-favourite board game. The kitchen, tucked into one corner, is well equipped to feed the whole group, while a separate utility cupboard offers a dedicated space for laundry facilities. Off the main living area, you’ll find three restful bedrooms, each as appealing as the last, with soft bedding and plenty of space to unpack. The master king-size bedroom is accompanied by an en-suite shower room. The two remaining twin bedrooms are served by the family bathroom, which offers the option of a bath or shower.

Take your morning coffee out onto the elevated decking to watch the early sun reflect off the small lochan. With a bench and bistro set, there’s plenty of space out here to savour a peaceful morning. The lawn surrounding the property is unenclosed, yet it offers an extended garden space for children to play on. Ample private parking is also available directly outside.

We had a fabulous week at Birchlea, glorious weather- lodge is comfortable and well equipped. Lovely outside space . There was plenty of linen and towels. Laundry room with washer and dryer . Beds very comfortable and good bathrooms with great water pressure. Lovely views from the decking and parking outside. The lodge is very well situated in a sRead moremall area with a fenced central pond which is lovely to look at . Its our second stay here and a few niggles, the outdoor furniture isnt great and was quite dirty so we had to Clean it all ourselves, ants in the kitchen were a real nuisance and and they were in everything so we had to go out to buy some ant traps . The main living area / kitchen is looking very tired and generally needs a really good clean and a few little repairs Hide

Really spacious accommodation. 4 adults and a child and a dog and we didnt feel cramped. Lovely setting. Just 9 lodges around a lake and plenty of space between them. Ideally located for walks to beach and through forest and close to amenities of kippford. We had everything we needed for our stay and tea enjoyed it. Well equipped kitchen and laRead morerge lounge area. Would be happy to stay again. Hide

Had a fantastic time here. Location was great and very relaxing. Had to contact the owner once but she was on the ball and made sure our holiday was worth the while. We would recommend Birchlea for anyone visiting the area. You won't regret it.
