Bring family or friends together at this beautifully renovated farmhouse, set on a hillside above the peaceful seaside village of Port William (0.5 miles). The village has local shops, a restaurant, a hotel and a charming harbour, along with a pebble beach overlooking Luce Bay, the Isle of Man, the Mull of Galloway and, on clear days, the Mourne Mountains. Set out on local walking routes or venture to historic Whithorn (7.5 miles), harbourfront Garlieston (11.5 miles) and picturesque Portpatrick (27.5 miles). History lovers will love exploring the atmospheric ruins of Glenluce Abbey (16 miles), while green-fingered guests can admire exotic plants at Logan Botanic Garden (28.5 miles) or wander through the grounds and famous maze at Dunskey Gardens (28 miles). Galloway Forest Park (20 miles) is a haven for stargazing, birdwatching and wildlife spotting, as well as mountain biking along the 7stanes trails.

On arrival, a half-step leads through the kitchen entrance, opening into a large, sociable space where you can sit down to leisurely meals and plan tomorrow’s adventures. The adjoining utility room contains a washing machine and tumble dryer. In the comfy sitting room, settle beside the wood burner and admire the sea view. One of the four bedrooms – a double – is located on the ground floor, along with a bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Upstairs, you’ll find a king-size bedroom and a double that both enjoy sea views, along with a further double bedroom. A family shower room completes the first floor.

Outside, children and four-legged guests will love letting off steam in the large private enclosed garden. Sink into the hot tub after an adventurous day, then fire up the BBQ and gather beneath the covered patio, which has seating and dining space for up to ten people. Very comfortable and well equipped. Enjoyed the hot tub., too. A great location because we know the area well but have not visited for 8 years. Rachel and Rory Christie were very welcoming and sorted a couple of issues soeedily.

What a stunning property this is, from the views over the sea to the spacious living area. The secure large garden was great for the dogs and gave us peace at mind. The fire at night was so cosy and the hot tub just topped it off. The covered area outside is a great we touch also. We highly recommend this farmhouse and would definitely book again.

Unreal house and felt very welcomed. Really spacious for the ten of us including three kids. Plenty of activities for the children in the house (games room). Incredibly large kitchen full of everything you could want or need. A lovely little welcome package as well which we werent expecting! Really couldnt fault it the only thing that I would say Read moreis that it needs some fly catchers being beside a farm its expected but didnt realise how many the kitchen was swarming. Wouldnt put me off coming again what a great house!! Hide

Would highly recommend Dourie Farmhouse for a holiday retreat it's very spacious, clean and has so many many more qualities. The garden is large and has an walled parameter that was a safe area for our 2 escape artist dogs we were able to relax knowing they couldn't get out. The covered courtyard was a fantastic bonus too you can shelter from theRead more sun and enjoy being outside in the rain. All bedrooms are a great size, the kitchen well where do you start has everything you would possibly need and completely home from home. We loved this farmhouse so much our relatives have now booked a week away and we will definetly be back too. And don't forget to pop down to Port William there is a beautiful restaurant The View - ran by the PIRSAC that can't be missed food and service are second to none. Hide
