Property code: OC-D545714

Pet-friendly and ideal for families, this handsome country cottage on the edge of Loch Shiel invites guests to step outside and explore the wonders of the Highlands. You’ll find the property in Glenfinnan, a quaint hamlet best known for its iconic viaduct, located less than 1 mile away. Famously featured in the Harry Potter films, the viaduct can be crossed by steam train between Fort William (16 miles) and Mallaig (26 miles) - a truly spectacular way to take in the surrounding scenery. Fort William itself is a hub of activity, often referred to as the ‘outdoor capital of the UK’, thanks in part to its proximity to Ben Nevis (17.5 miles). Keen hikers can take on this towering peak before returning to town for well-earned refreshments on the shores of Loch Linnhe.

Traditionally styled with a rustic, countryside charm, this lochside property offers a peaceful, single-storey retreat, perfect for embracing a slower pace of life. Step into the lounge, where the absence of a TV, Wi-Fi or phone signal encourages you to fully switch off - whether that’s with a good book, a board game or simply great conversation while admiring the loch views. Comfortable seating and a dining table are arranged around a picture window, framing panoramic scenery. Along the hallway, the galley kitchen provides a compact yet well-equipped space for preparing meals. Also on this floor are two bedrooms: a cosy double and a snug bunk room that younger guests will love. A bright bathroom completes the interior.

Outside, the beauty of the landscape unfolds right on your doorstep. Step out to your own private beach on the loch’s edge, a tranquil spot rich in wildlife and natural flora. The property also includes the use of a fishing boat, perfect for heading out onto the water in search of your supper. Private parking for one car is available.

Camus Slatach was perfect! A beautiful cabin right on the shore of Loch Shiel. The cabin itself had everything you could need for a short holiday and was well placed to explore the local area either on foot or by car. A rowing boat was available for our use but we didn't make use of it. Always a joy to see the pony which wanders freely in the grounRead moreds and the stags near by. Hide

Second visit to the cabin. Cant rate it high enough for location and just being able to chill. Just sitting in living room and looking across water to the hills is enough for me. I have never revisited a holiday location before, and may well return

This is a cosy cottage- not fancy but well equipped and with the best views you can imagine. Peaceful but not remote. Boat available for use if you have outboard knowledge. Good roads around for sightseeing in the stunning area.

Brilliant location and the cabin, although basic was perfect for us. Very clean and a comfortable bed . First time I have felt sad leaving a holiday accommodation.

A beautiful cabin/cottage in a beautiful place. If you want peace, quiet, relaxation and to completely get away from it all this place is a dream. No WiFi but your phone WiFi works ok , best bit no TV no bad news to worry about. We didn't miss the TV because we sat watching all the birds and Sheltie the pony looking over that gorgeous view of theRead more loch. It's very well equipped, clean and tidy. Dog friendly too. Our 2nd visit and definitely won't be our last . We had a lovely evening meal at the Glenfinnan train carriage , but you do need to book . Hide

Wow , the location and scenery were amazing , we got the weather when we went too which made it even more perfect , the horse and the boat were a nice touch too and if you are really lucky you'll get a clear night like we did and sit on the beach and watch the crystal clear sky

The accommodation Camus Slatach is basic but very clean and well presented. As it's dog friendly, it's understandable that the furniture isn't the newest, but it's functional. What makes up for everything is the location and view from the chalet. It's at the end of a private road and only a few footsteps away from a part sand, part shingle beach. IRead moret's easily within walking distance to the the Glenfinnan Monument and the viaduct. The Glenfinnan House Hotel is again just a short stroll away if needs be. The wonderful beaches of the Morar area and the fishing port of Mallaig are only a 30-40 minute drive away. Hide

Great location, short walk to Glenfinnan railway centre and viaduct. Lovely views and quiet. Safe for the dogs to run around and play on the beach and swim in the Loch. Convenient for Mallaig and Fort William.
