With shops and inns on the doorstep, this two-bedroomed abode offers an authentic taste of life in Scotland’s smallest royal burgh. A bustling village with a beautiful high street and a thriving community spirit, New Galloway is home to a popular arts centre, historic town hall, welcoming stores and some great eateries. The village sits on the edge of Galloway Forest Park – the UK’s largest forest park – where you’ll find a rich tapestry of ancient woodlands, serene lochs and rolling hills. It’s also the site of the UK’s first Dark Sky Park – one of the best places to stargaze in Europe – and is a favourite location for mountain biking, with stages of the world-renowned 7Stanes trails catering to all skill levels. Just south of the village, New Galloway Golf Club welcomes visitors and is en route to Loch Ken (1 mile), where pre-bookable activity sessions include sailing, bike hire and boat trips.

Only moments from the village’s main retail artery, this contemporary holiday hideaway is an oasis of calm. Step inside and off the entrance hall you’ll find a twin bedroom with zip-and-link beds that can, on request, be made up as a king-size, along with a lovely en-suite shower room. Follow the stairs up to the first floor and the social hub of your holiday is an open-plan space with a chic kitchen to one end, a contemporary dining suite, and a lounge area with an inviting L-shaped sofa. Fire up the wood burner and turn on the TV for home-style entertainment. Sharing the upper-floor layout is a second zip-and-link twin bedroom that can also be made up as a king-size room – just let us know your preference when you book. Nearby, stairs lead up to a fabulous bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower.

While there’s no garden here, the property is only 150 metres from the local park, where there are picnic benches and a children’s play area. On-street parking is available.

Received a warm welcome from the Community Shop manager on arrival at this well appointed and very clean flat next-door to the shop. Excellent base for exploring this beautiful area. It is upstairs, but apart from that we can't recommend it highly enough. We used the downstairs bedroom which was better for me. Very quiet even though it's on the maiRead moren street. Hide

We have just returned after a lovely 4 night stay at Stroan. The cottage was beautiful. Decorated to a high standard. We didnt have any issues & there isnt anything Id change other than I feel the downstairs bed would benefit greatly from a thick mattress topper to make It more comfortable. Our welcome folder wasnt there when we arrived but was soRead moreon delivered to us after we contacted the owners . A welcome voucher was given to us to spend at the community shop which is stocked full of lovely items and locally sourced food & friendly welcoming staff. A very friendly community. We used the cottage as a base to explore Scotland. We travelled to Ayr, Troon, Edinburgh, Castle Douglas & Kirkcudbright. A wonderful time in the beautiful country. Hide
