So peaceful wonderful location

Arrived on a cold wet October afternoon. The cottage was cold and smelled of damp. There was one radiator available to turn on, the others are operated remotely so cant be switched on at the cottage. There was a small quantity of coal for the open fire but no kindling, paper or firelighters to start the fire. We usually hope that that the owners maRead morey provide milk as a welcome but the fridge was empty. There was one dishwasher tablet provided. About to use the coffee maker until I noticed that it contained cloudy, stale water so didnt use it. Although it is clearly stated in the particulars that there is no shower we found this a disadvantage. We looked into the upstairs bedroom but because my son had to make other arrangements at short notice we didnt use this room. It felt damp and smelled musty. I see from the visitors book that some guests return so we all have differing expectations. We wouldnt return. Hide

Peaceful little haven in the woods.

The cottage is in a lovely location. However the cottage itself is not in ideal condition with both bedrooms smelling of damp, the bedroom upstairs being very bad. We would not have stayed if we had to use that room. All in all the property requires modernisation and some tlc.

Fantastic little hideaway in the woods, immersed in wildlife lucky enough to see a red squirrel in the garden, deer in the field, owls swooping from trees and the bats really are something to see!

Comfortable and well-loved cottage, with lots of outdoor spaces to chill and watch nature. Not "shiny" which suits us down to the ground. I'm sure all the walkers who passed by on the public footpath were very envious!

Lovely cottage well equipped and really comfortable especially with the fire. Lovely walks until Freddie out black lab cut his pad open and all exercise stopped. Vets at Kirkudbright very cheap and caring, highly recommended. A relaxing and restful two weeks and will be back.
