Fill your days with hiking, cycling, water sports, dark-sky gazing and loch fishing, calling this exceptional holiday home in rural Galloway your base for an adventure-filled stay. This property sits within easy reach of the Solway Coast and the Galloway Forest Park, promising a variety of activities to fill each day. As well as being on the edge of one of the UK’s Dark Sky Parks (1.5 miles), it’s also close to a designated red kite spotting centre (12.5 miles) on the edge of Loch Ken. The loch itself is packed full of fun things to do, including sailing, canoeing and fishing, making it a real hive of activity for your escape. A short drive away, explore Castle Douglas (11.5 miles), a well-known tourist town offering tasty treats and locally sourced produce across grocery shops, bakeries and local eateries – a renowned foodie destination.

On arrival, stop and take in the immense sense of peacefulness that this property affords, admiring the views across the surrounding parkland and acres of land. Venture inside and pause in the utility room, a space for stowing coats, boots and any other outdoor equipment – a handy WC greets you here after a long day of walking. The kitchen is a bright, welcoming space with painted cabinets, pastel tiles and an original Rayburn cooker, positioned next to a casual dining area for breakfast and light meals. Also on this floor, a handsome dining room offers a grand table set beside an inglenook fireplace – the perfect setting for celebratory dinners. Retire after dinner to the lounge area, an inviting space with soft seating positioned around a wood burner and TV for unwinding late into the night. From this floor, a stone-flagged hallway leads via rough stone steps to the property’s south wing. This unique layout places two bedrooms separate from the main house – one a twin and the other a double – alongside a family bathroom. On the first floor of this wing, the entire length of the house has been converted into a gallery space where children are welcome to come and play. Back in the main house, take the stairs up to the first floor to discover the remaining bedrooms. A library-style hallway leads to two bedrooms – one a super-king-size and the other a single bedroom with an additional fold-out bed. Completing this floor is a beautifully wallpapered family bathroom, with a delightful bath to sink into after a long day.

Keep an eagle eye out for the area’s fantastic wildlife whilst relaxing in the garden. The enclosed patio area has been designed with relaxation in mind, furnished for your al fresco comfort. Beyond it, 3 acres of garden and parkland surround the abode, also yours to explore, and private parking is available in abundance.

Wonderful secluded farmhouse. Great for our family get together. All arrangements went as planned. Very responsive to calls. It turned out to be wintery weekend, however house was lovely and warm. Kids loved building snowmen!!!
