In summer, enjoy the delightful walks down to the beach. The picturesque villages of Rockcliffe and Kippford are within 15 miles, offering coastal walks, sailing, pubs and tea shops. Head 15 miles inland and discover woodland walking and cycling trails, suitable for all ages, at Dalbeattie Forest and Mabie Woods.

This charming property is part of the 17th-century stable yard next to the Grade A-listed Arbigland House. Enter the first cottage into the hallway, and a step down takes you to the welcoming ground-floor sitting room. This elegantly furnished room has plenty of natural light and plenty of comfortable seating to relax after a day of exploring. Enjoy evening drinks and chatting or catch your favourite movie or box set on the Smart TV. When it is time to eat, head through to the kitchen, which features a range cooker for a country-style feel and all the appliances you need to cook up a feast or celebratory meal. The kitchen/dining area is an attractive social space with plenty of light, seating for ten, and additional space at the breakfast bar. There is a ground-floor king-size bedroom and a shower room with a WC, providing flexible sleeping options for guests. Head up to the first floor, and there are three pretty bedrooms with plenty of storage – a king-size with an en-suite bathroom, a double bedroom and a family room which accommodates either two double beds or four single beds. A contemporary bathroom completes this lovely cottage. The second cottage is also set over two levels with an entrance hallway on the ground floor leading to a beautiful open-plan living area, ideal for relaxed socialising. The sitting room features comfortable seating and a centrepiece fireplace which houses a wood burner. The sitting room has a single sofa bed. The kitchen is behind the sitting area and is well equipped to whip up some tasty treats that you can enjoy at the dining table, which is set close to the window in a corner of the room. This is a light and airy space, ideal for chatting, catching up, or planning the next day’s adventures. When it is time to rest, head upstairs and drift off to sleep in either the double or single bedroom – both are spacious and have calming hues for a restful sleep. A splendid bathroom with a bath and WC completes this welcoming cottage.

Outstanding location. Hosts extremely helpful and considerate - couldnt do enough for us. Excellent kitchen with plenty of room for our group of seven to eat round the table. Log fire a great asset. Very highly recommended. https://youtu.be/yQP8pyEGlMY?si=P6OlJDp62u9H_fOE

The Stables suited us well for a family get together. Plenty of space, enough bedrooms, kitchen had good oven and all we needed, beds comfortable. The furniture was a little dated and layout a little quirky, but those weren't our priorities. We enjoyed the adjacent gardens and sitting out in the enclosed cobbled area in front of the cottage.

We were a gang of 10 artists and spent the whole week on the property, feeling no need to go anywhere else. The gardens are fabulous, the beach is right on the Solway Firth, and the hosts are gracious and super-friendly. We were very pleased,

The stables was a very comfortable house and suited our families with an age range from 9 year old twins to granny at 80. The grounds were good for walking about in and the main path lead right to the beach much to the delight of the younger ones.
