The south coast of Cornwall is dotted with picture-postcard fishing villages, including Polperro (19 miles). Sample fresh seafood and wander the traffic-free streets soaking up the atmosphere. For somewhere a little more off the beaten track, head to the Rame Peninsula (17 miles), where you’ll find quiet beaches and former smuggling villages to explore.
