Surrounded by the vast woodland of Kielder Forest and close to Kielder Water, this holiday cottage is a fantastic base for friends and family who love the great outdoors. Spend your days walking or cycling through the forest, try water sports on the lake or keep an eye out for the area's abundant wildlife. You can hire bikes locally and tackle the 26-mile Lakeside Way, which circles Kielder Water. Younger visitors will love the Gruffalo Spotters’ Trail, while the forest is also home to an intriguing collection of art installations. Head to Kielder Observatory (3 miles), which is a wonderful spot to take in the stars in this Dark Sky Reserve. After a day of adventure, settle down for a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants in nearby Falstone or Shilling Pot (both 9 miles), while Bellingham (18 miles) has a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants. For more restaurants and shopping head over the border to Newcastleton (15 miles) whilst the Scottish border is only 2 miles away.

Arrive via the rear entrance, leading into a handy utility room with a washing machine and sink, plus a separate downstairs WC. From here, the well-appointed kitchen/diner has all the essentials for preparing meals and gathering around the table, with a breakfast bar and two stools adding a sociable spot for morning coffee. A door leads through to the hallway, where a cupboard provides somewhere to stow useful walking equipment and outdoor clothing. The bright lounge looks out across the rear garden through dual-aspect windows, with comfortable seating, a wood burner and a Smart TV for laid-back evenings. Upstairs, three bedrooms cater for different combinations of guests. The lovely king-size room has windows on two sides and a generous sofa, while the twin and single bedrooms each have ample storage for belongings. The charming shower room rounds off the interior layout.

The rear garden is arranged across two sections, giving everyone plenty of room to make the most of the outdoors. Close to the house, the patio has wonderful seating, while an outside tap and hose are particularly useful for rinsing muddy boots, bicycles and paws after rural adventures. Beyond the lawn, another patio houses a picnic table and fire pit/BBQ, creating a lovely setting for meals outside beneath the stars. Up to two cars can park behind the property, with additional on-street parking for one vehicle at the front. A garage and separate outbuilding also provide cyclists with secure bike storage.
