Once you've had your fill of this spectacular National Park, jump in the car for day trips to Carlisle (16 miles), Gretna Green (24 miles) and the England–Scotland border.

Big by name and by nature, this property is exceptionally spacious, with an extensive collection of rooms laid out across two floors and an annexe in the garden. Step inside via the large entrance hall, which leads to a downstairs games room and children's play area. This fantastic space features soft play, a Smart TV, a pool table, darts and air hockey – a wonderful spot for children to escape to before dinner. Meals can be served in the impressive dining room, which seats 22 guests and also features a bar and a Smart TV. A separate WC just off this space adds extra convenience. The kitchen facilities comprise a traditional kitchen alongside an additional utility-style prep kitchen, with a further utility room providing laundry facilities and extra storage. After dinner, retire to the inviting lounge with ample comfortable seating, a wall-mounted Smart TV and a wood-burner-effect electric fire. The first of the property's nine bedrooms is also located on the ground floor: a spacious family room with a super-king-size (zip-and-link) bed, an additional bunk bed and an en-suite bathroom. Six further bedrooms can be found upstairs, each thoughtfully decorated to create a restful atmosphere. Two are family rooms with super-king-size beds and additional single beds, three feature super-king-size (zip-and-link) beds that can be made up as twins on request, and the final bedroom is a bunk room that's perfect for children. All six upstairs bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, with a mix of showers and baths. Outside, the separate garden annexe provides additional ground-floor accommodation for four guests. It features two super-king-size (zip-and-link) bedrooms, each of which can be arranged as twins on request, both with en-suite bathrooms.

When the sun shines, this property really comes into its own. The large, enclosed garden is wonderfully private and packed with everything you need to make the most of warm days outdoors.
