Step off the beaten track and enjoy a laid-back break at this blissful bolthole. Located in the Stour Valley near the small hamlet of Crundale, the property is set midway between Ashford and Canterbury yet feels a world away from the workaday. Explore the hedge-lined lanes that surround the property, calling in at the ancient local church or visit the array of local pubs and restaurants in the beautiful village of Wye. If you’d like to venture further afield, Chilham (3 miles) – famous for its well-preserved medieval square, Tudor architecture and historic connections – is a major hub for hikers, sitting on both the North Downs Way and the Pilgrims' Way. It’s also en route to the medieval walled city of Canterbury (9 miles), a UNESCO World Heritage Site with much to admire – the magnificent cathedral is a must-see. A cycle path leads from the property directly to Canterbury passing through the countryside.

The timeless, timber-clad exterior is a perfect foil for the contemporary elegance that flows throughout this holiday hideaway. Park and carry your luggage straight into the open-plan social space, where exposed structural beams frame discrete areas designed for cooking, eating and relaxing. In one corner, the sleek kitchen is close to bi-fold doors opening onto the garden. Bar-style seating at an island unit creates a convivial setting for chats as dinner cooks; when you’re ready to dish up, the dining suite is conveniently close. Load the dishwasher, then move over to the lounge area, where a choice of stylish soft seating is arranged before the Smart TV. When it’s time to sleep, take your choice from two sanctuary-like rooms, each with a king-size bed and a beautiful en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower.

Open those bi-fold doors from the main living space and step into an enclosed garden with far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside. Bordered by hedging and fences, the garden includes a lawn and a patio area furnished for al fresco dining. Private parking for two cars completes the property, making your Kent day trips easy.

A superb cottage in a really great location. Really well equipped, the owners have gone to lots of trouble and everything is really well thought out. We enjoyed meals and drinks at the local pub in Wye, The Tickled Trout. A great place to walk to and sits on the river with lovely beer garden. Canterbury was well worth a visit and the cottage is aRead morelso not too far from the coast. Plenty of great walks from the door along lanes and through public footpaths. Godmersham Is really close by which is beautiful to walk through on the paths and woods. There is also a lovely garden to relax in on lazy days. Would highly recommend this cottage as a very peaceful and relaxing place to visit. Hide

Immaculately presented, clean and comfortable. Lovely views from the cottage. Safe enclosed garden for dogs. Hosts friendly and on hand if needed, but not intrusive.
