Also, just 1 mile away is the World of Beatrix Potter attraction, bound to be a hit with little ones. Head to Stock Ghyll Force, just outside Ambleside (6 miles), and admire the magnificence of the 70’ waterfall within beautiful woodland, or pack a picnic and head up Loughrigg Fell (9 miles). The most adventurous of the group may want to hike up Scafell Pike (12 miles), England’s highest mountain, to be rewarded with incredible views.
Head up several sets of stone steps up to the grand front door of the imposing stone property, and kick off your boots in the hallway.
