A beautiful former farmhouse set in picturesque, tranquil surroundings, this Northumberland property is idyllic for those seeking seclusion. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom retreat, less than 1 mile from Slaggyford village and just 6 miles from Alston, offers exquisitely renovated accommodation set across three storeys. Tucked away deep in the North Pennines National Landscape, on the Pennine Way, the location offers a plethora of magnificent walks and cycle rides. Venture 5 miles to see the impressive Victorian-designed Lambley Viaduct, which crosses the River South Tyne. Visit the Roman fort at Epiacum, 3.5 miles away, and see the spectacular waterfall at Ashgill Force, 11 miles away. The Northumberland National Park, with its dramatic landscapes, is about the same distance away. Visit Hadrian’s Wall and stroll along the path beside it, 12 miles from the cottage. The scenic Lake District National Park, with its picturesque footpaths and myriad beauty spots, is 25 miles.

Return from discovering the beauty of your surroundings to find accommodation that is immediately welcoming and restful. Beautifully updated, with attractive furnishings and honey-coloured flooring throughout the ground floor, the farmhouse still presents original features, such as exposed stonework and beams. Make your way in via the front door to emerge in an inviting, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Light the wood burner in the stone inglenook fireplace in here, then settle on the lovely seating to chat, play games or watch the Smart TV. The kitchen/diner is at the other end of the space and has a friendly farmhouse feel. With a larder cupboard and wooden work surfaces, this encompasses ample space for food preparation and storage. Follow the stairs down to the lower snug/lounge. Here you can watch something different on the Smart TV and open the door to the garden to bring in the fresh country air. One of your bedrooms, a king-size with its own external door, is also at this lower level, together with a shower room. Your remaining two bedrooms, another king-size and a twin, both with splendid vaulted ceilings, beams and scenic views, are on the first floor, along with the family bathroom, comprising a bath and walk-in shower.

Step outside to take in the scenery and soak up the sunshine. Dine at the table to the front of the farmhouse, and relax as the sun sets to the back. Let any youngsters in your party run about on the lawn. There is off-road parking for four cars. The farmhouse is approached via a farm track.
