A welcoming cottage on a former farm near Troutbeck, this Cumbrian retreat offers the best of all worlds. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom property nestles on the edge of the Lake District National Park within a holiday village with extensive shared facilities. Make the most of the opportunities for leisure on the doorstep or enjoy days out in the beautiful countryside. Head 8 miles to Pooley Bridge on the shores of magnificent Ullswater. Take a cruise on a steamboat or hire your own rowing boats, canoes or motor day cruisers and savour the picturesque scenery at your own pace. Lace up your walking boots and stride along a section of the 20-mile Ullswater Way that loops the lake. Make your way to Keswick, 11 miles away, to potter in the shops, sip a pint in a friendly pub and book seats for a show at the Theatre by the Lake.

Enter the cottage to discover two-storey, reverse-level accommodation that has been designed with your holiday comfort in mind. Hang your jackets and bags and leave your shoes in the vestibule before heading up to the first floor to discover your open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With a lovely vaulted and beamed ceiling, the sumptuous lounge area features a plush L-shaped sofa where you can unwind with your nearest and dearest between trips out. Slide the doors back onto the balcony here to bring in a country breeze or pick up the remote control to the Smart TV. Choose a book from the shelves and enjoy a few quiet moments to yourself in the reading nook. Take a step up to the kitchen/diner, which is well equipped to ensure you can produce tasty Cumbrian meals with ease. Dine in here on those occasions you choose not to make the most of the on-site restaurant. All three comfortable bedrooms are on the ground floor, together with the family bathroom, which has both a bath and a shower. With an en-suite king-size and a twin room, as well as a bunk bedroom, there is flexibility here for all sorts of sleeping arrangements.

Spill out into the garden, which is not enclosed, on sunny days. Dine outside or relax with a cup of tea or coffee in the fresh air. Explore cobbled streets between the natural stone buildings within the holiday village. Take the children to the duck pond and absorb the views towards the fells. The shared on-site facilities, including a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, gym and games room. There is also a café/bar and restaurant. There is ample off-road parking in a car park.
