History enthusiasts will enjoy visits to the ancient city of Canterbury and the 14th-century Bodiam Castle (both within 19 miles), while other local attractions include the Kent & East Sussex Railway (7 miles), which cuts through the beautiful Rother Valley.

Before stepping into this 16th-century cottage, take a moment to appreciate its traditional red-brick exterior. Head inside and find that the historic charm continues in the form of roaring wood burners, sloping eaves, and exposed walls and timber beams. Be greeted by the farmhouse-style kitchen, which features everything needed for a self-catered stay, including a breakfast table for easy dining and a wood burner for chillier days. The lounge/diner forms the social heart of the home, boasting a long wooden dining table and ample soft seating arranged around a statement wood burner and Smart TV. Just off the lounge, a snug offers space for the group to spread out and unwind, featuring a sofa and a choice of toys and games. When it’s time to call it a night, head upstairs and find a choice of four restful bedrooms spread across the first and second floors. On the first floor is a super-king-size room with an en-suite shower room, plus a king-size bedroom served by the nearby family bathroom. Up on the second floor, set under the sloping eaves of the building, you’ll find another king-size bedroom and a cosy twin room.

Rose Cottage was a wonderful place to stay and for us to get together as a family. The house was comfortable, quirky and beautiful with more than enough space to get together around the table or in the lounge in front of a cosy, warm log burner. The little childrens playroom was great for the grandkids to have a bit of their own space too! It turneRead mored out to be a great location as well - a pub with great food across the road, well stocked shop next door and a great butcher in the village. We managed to get out everyday, several National Trust places nearby, and the children loved the playground in the village - and a little bonus surprise, visiting the Alpacas in the field behind the church! All in all a great week for us, lovely house in a great location. Hide
