Located in central Ambleside, this holiday cottage is perfectly placed for friends and family looking to experience the very best of the Lake District. The town itself has a fascinating past, dating back to Roman times. More recently, Ambleside played an important role in the Lancashire cotton industry, with mills once powered by the waters of Stock Ghyll (1 mile). Today, the gentle sound of its waterfalls provides a peaceful backdrop to village life. The famous Fairfield Horseshoe begins just yards from the cottage and is one of the area's most celebrated fell walks. There are also countless opportunities for climbing, fell-running, mountain biking and wildlife spotting, with an extensive network of paths and landscapes cared for by the National Trust. After a day roaming the fells and lakes, you’ll find plenty of friendly pubs and excellent restaurants just a short walk away in Ambleside’s bustling centre.
Enter through the bright kitchen, a generous and well-equipped room designed for both cooking and gathering. With ample preparation areas and a sociable dining table at its heart, it’s a great place to start the day over breakfast or come together after exploring the local area. Leading on from the kitchen is the inviting lounge, where a wood burner creates a warm and inviting atmosphere on cooler evenings. Tucked away at the rear of the house, the principal king-size bedroom sits a couple of steps higher, creating a restful retreat away from the main living areas. The family bathroom is also located on this floor. Traditional cottage stairs lead to the first floor, where three further bedrooms await. Here you'll find two charming double bedrooms alongside one comfortable twin room, making the property well-suited for families and mixed groups. A second bathroom with a walk-in shower completes the upstairs accommodation.
Outside, a secluded garden and terrace make the most of the fell views, creating an ideal setting for morning coffee, leisurely afternoons or dining beneath the open sky. The garden includes a patio with outdoor furniture and gently sloping areas that add to its character. Private parking for up to three cars is available on site.
