A delightful coastal Yorkshire hideaway, this enticing retreat looks out over the harbour at picture-postcard Staithes. Sleeping seven guests, the four-bedroom cottage, which sits within the North York Moors National Park, offers character-laden accommodation arranged over four storeys. Wander just 150 metres down onto the sand to paddle in the sea and hunt for fossils. Head out on bracing walks along the dramatic Cleveland Way, perhaps attempting the 11-mile stretch all the way to Whitby. Discover Whitby, 11 miles away by car, with its historic streets. Spend time on the beach here and climb the 99 steps up to the striking abbey ruins. Saltburn-by-the-Sea, 9.5 miles away, with its traditional seaside charm, is also well worth visiting. Delightful Robin Hood’s Bay, 16 miles away, is another lovely place for a day trip. Venture deep into the North York Moors, with its magnificent landscapes, multitude of beauty spots and exciting walks.

Step up and into the colourful abode from the street to find yourself in a small hall where you can shed your footwear. Wander on into the beamed lounge, with its beautiful wooden floor and inglenook fireplace. Stoke up the wood burner in here on chilly days and settle on the L-shaped sofa or in a comfortable seat to catch up after your day. Play a family game, read your book or flick through the channels on the Smart TV. Follow the stairs down to the lower ground floor to emerge in the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner. Put the kettle on to brew a cup of strong Yorkshire tea and start preparing the next meal for your family or friends. There is also a handy utility room down here. The bedrooms and bathrooms are arranged across the top two storeys of the cottage. At first-floor level, there is a double bedroom and a twin, together with the family bathroom. Another inviting double and a single, both withsloping ceilings, are on the second floor. The double bedroom up here has an en-suite shower room.
