A truly special Scottish hideaway, this sumptuous cottage-style annex makes for an idyllic stay for couples. Situated within the walled grounds of the Old School House in Kirkliston, but enjoying great privacy, the one-bedroom abode is 9 miles from the historic city of Edinburgh and 2.5 miles from the coast at South Queensferry. Head into Edinburgh to visit the famous castle and the National Museum of Scotland. Climb Arthur’s Seat to take in the panoramic views. Potter in the delightful shopping streets and dine out in an array of restaurants. Head to the beach at Whitehouse Bay to walk along the shores and look out over the Firth of Forth. From Cramond Beach, 6 miles away, you can walk over the causeway at low tide to Cramond Island. Spend a day in Linlithgow, where you can see the ruins of the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and stroll beside the loch.

Step inside to find bright, airy, single-storey accommodation that has been finished to an exceptionally high standard. Find yourselves wowed by the impressive, double-height, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its vaulted ceiling, limestone floor and glass gable end that brings the natural light and gorgeous garden views flooding in. Feel toasty and warm thanks to the underfloor heating, or light the wood burner in the stone fireplace to enjoy an even cosier ambience. Settle on one of the sumptuous seats to watch the Smart TV, which comes with a Sonos sound system. Unpack any Scottish produce that you have picked up on the way over in the beautiful bespoke hand made Scottish kitchen. Rustle up romantic dinners for two, then uncork a bottle of chilled white wine. As the day draws to a close, make your way through to the enticing bedroom, which has been finished with the same level of opulence, care and attention. This has the luxury of a chic en-suite shower room with marble flooring and a rainfall shower.

Wander out into your private garden as often as the weather permits. Sip a wee dram of Scottish whisky out here as the sun goes down. Treat yourself to coffee from the bean-to-cup expresso machine out in the sunshine on summer days. There is private, off-road parking within an electric gated front garden for one car right beside the entrance pathway.
