Soak up the peace and tranquillity of the North York Moors National Park at this traditional, picture-postcard detached cottage in the village of Beck Hole – just 9.5 miles from Whitby. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s ideal for families or groups of friends in search of a characterful cottage to call home while they discover North Yorkshire together. Wake up and set off on a stroll into Goathland (1 mile) – the filming location for ITV’s Heartbeat – to visit the heritage steam railway station (Hogsmeade Station in Harry Potter), treat yourself to a cream tea, or hike the 3.5-mile trail to Grosmont, which traces the route of George Stephenson's original 1836 railway line. Further afield, head into Whitby (9.5 miles) to stroll along the sandy beach, lose yourself in its atmospheric cobbled streets and treat yourself to some mouthwatering fish and chips.
Step inside and store your walking gear in the porch. Head to the lounge and you’ll find a characterful space with beautiful beamed ceilings, traditional furnishings and a welcoming wood burner. Cook up a storm in the kitchen and host dinner by the wood burner in the dining area. Afterwards, relax by the wood burner in the lounge. When the day is done, head upstairs to find two cosy bedrooms – a king-size with an en-suite shower room and a handy twin. The king-size room has lovely views over the beck. A smart family shower room completes the layout.
Outside, you’ll discover a small table and chairs to the side of the cottage – the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. To the front, you’ll find pretty flower beds, and to the rear, there’s a lovely courtyard with a bench for al fresco dining. Private parking is available for two cars in the gated driveway.
