Experience country living at its finest at this picture postcard cottage in the sleepy village of Finsthwaite – just 2 miles outside Newby Bridge. Sleeping six people over three bedrooms, it’s the perfect base for families or groups in search of a dreamy retreat to call home while they discover the Lake District together. Wake up and set off on a 7-mile circular hike along the West Windermere Way (0.5 miles), and along the way you’ll visit Newby Bridge, Lakeside and Great Knott Wood. Alternatively, head into Haverthwaite (4 miles) and take a nostalgic steam journey on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. Or hop onto a boat in Lakeside (1 mile) and take in magnificent views of mountain scenery on a cruise of England’s largest lake – Lake Windermere. After a day of adventure, come home to relax by your cottage’s cosy wood burner.
Step inside and you’ll find a bright and cheerful open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with exposed ceiling beams and a stylish slate tiled floor. Whip up some dinner in the Shaker-style kitchen area and get the whole gang together at the central island for a casual meal. Afterward, head to the lounge area to relax by the multi-fuel wood-burning stove. When the day is done, make your way up the wooden stars and you’ll find a stylish king-size and a double bedroom. More wooden stairs lead you up to a charming single bedroom. There’s also a large bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath and walk-in shower.
Head outside to the private patio – the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. The king-size bedroom has French doors that lead to a terrace, with steps down to the patio. Private parking is available on the drive for one car.
