Tucked among St Ives’ whitewashed cottages, this charming retreat places families, couples and friends right at the centre of one of Cornwall’s most beloved seaside towns. It sleeps six guests across a characterful cottage and separate studio suite – ideal if you want both shared spaces and a little extra privacy. Nearby, wander the maze of pretty cobbled streets lined with galleries and independent shops, perhaps lingering around the picturesque harbour, or stretching out on the golden sands of Porthmeor Beach (100 metres). If you’re into water sports, you’ll want to make the most of the waves, while walkers can join the South West Coast Path (500 metres). Further afield, don’t miss the dramatic cliffside setting of the Minack Theatre (19 miles), or head to iconic Land’s End (20 miles) for unforgettable sea views and rugged coastal scenery.

On arrival, climb the external steps up to the main cottage, where a stable door opens into a bright open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The interior is homely and colourful for a welcoming feel. Upstairs is a peaceful king-size bedroom, along with a bunk bedroom with direct access out to the garden. A family bathroom with a shower over the bath completes the cottage accommodation. Down below, accessed from the street via a shared hallway, the separate studio suite has an additional double bedroom space with seating, a Smart TV and its own shower room with WC – ideal for grandparents, teenagers or couples wanting a little more independence.

In good weather, the enclosed rear garden is a lovely sunny spot for slow breakfasts and evening drinks. Decking and bench seating provide space for everyone to gather together in the fresh sea air, while four-legged companions can safely potter about. Parking is available in a nearby public pay-and-display car park (300 metres).

This cottage is advertised for 6 people, with the downstairs accommodation being advertised for teenagers or grandparents, it is definitely not suitable for 6 people, especially when the family has teenagers. The downstairs accommodation is damp and smells of damp, with patches of mildew/damp on the walls and visible signs of moisture on the wallRead mores, this room made my teenagers' skin and clothes smell of damp. The kitchen is not very well equipped, only 6 items of each cutlery and crockery, no roasting pans for the oven, I wanted to cook a chicken but had to use the grill pan. The fridge/freezer is tiny, with broken shelves, that are held together with masking tape, I managed to fit one shelf into the runner but as the shelf was broken it didn't hold on the runner and the food fell off the shelf. The cottage is dirty, needing attention to the floor, bathroom area, The table only has 4 chairs; yet the cottage is advertised for 6 people. The outside are is overgrown with a very smelly plant, the seating was dirty and needed a good clean. The ground floor of the cottage is very dark and dingy as there are only overhead lights in the kitchen are. Hide
