We really enjoyed our stay at The Cottage at Coupland Beck with our two teenagers. The Cottage has been restored to a very high standard and we wanted for nothing. The large kitchen-diner has everything you need for cooking and baking with all mod-cons - we cooked all our own meals with no trouble at all. There is plenty of living space- my husbandRead more turned the dining room into his home office for the week while I relaxed in the lounge. The rooms were spotless and the fabulous garden is spacious and full of wonderful bird life and the odd rabbit! The master bedroom has to be the most impressive bedroom weve ever come across in a holiday rental with its French doors overlooking the garden. Two of us found the mattresses comfortable but two of us struggled to get a good night sleep on them, saying they were too hard. It was lovely to be able to walk down the drive to buy fresh eggs in the morning from the local honesty box over the road, and drive up to the nearby golf club to watch the sunset in the evening. Appleby village is close by and useful for stocking up on food items or popping into the pub or making use of the local chippy. We made the most of the low light pollution and stayed up one night star gazing in the garden. The only two drawbacks I can think of are: the traffic noise from the nearby dual carriageway does detract from the otherwise peaceful location, and the walk-through bedroom does reduce privacy for whoever sleeps in there. And though it wasnt a problem for us, I wouldnt recommend this property for young families because of there is a beck at the bottom of the garden that has a steep bank. Hide
