With masses of room inside and out, this very special property makes an ideal escape for up to four guests looking for outdoor adventures, beach days and trips to family attractions. The pretty market town of Holsworthy is just 5 miles away, where you’ll find shops, cafes and other amenities – a great place to try some local produce from the farmers’ market. For hikes, biking and water sports, Upper Tamar Lake is just 7 miles away, or walkers and cyclists may want to join the Tarka Trail, following the River Torridge, about 8 miles away. There’s also the incredible moorland scenery of Dartmoor National Park (20 miles). Within 10 miles, you can reach the delightful gardens of RHS Rosemoor and the historic coastal village of Clovelly. For family days out, head to the fabulous Milky Way Adventure Park or to Bude’s popular Summerleaze Beach, both within 11 miles. The spectacular beaches of Bude, Widemouth and Crackington Haven are all within 23 miles.
Enter straight into the open-plan living space, an impressive, social area in which everyone can gather, whether cooking, dining or relaxing. At the heart of the room is a wood burner, ensuring cosy warmth at all times of the year, while the striking, exposed-stone walls add incredible atmosphere. The double-height lounge features plenty of soft seating, ready for snuggling after a day outdoors. There’s also a Smart TV on which you can stream box sets and movies on a relaxing night in. Down four steps, the dining table seats everyone comfortably, and is complemented by the breakfast bar in the kitchen, which has room for four people to enjoy a morning coffee or a quick snack. The cook will be delighted with the kitchen itself, which includes a fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Beyond the kitchen is a utility area with a washing machine and a WC. Flowing off the kitchen to one side is the spectacular conservatory, a real sun trap and indoor/outdoor zone, with comfortable seating in which to curl up and enjoy a book or simply sit back and relish the incredible countryside views. Take the floating stairs from the dining area to the first-floor hallway, which leads to two superb bedrooms: one super-king (can be made up as twins on request) is on the mezzanine overlooking the lounge, featuring dramatic beams (low in places – please mind your head), huge windows with an armchair placed to enjoy the stunning views, and more of those impressive stone walls. The other bedroom is delightful super-king, boasting decorative wallpaper, a rustic beam and a tranquil colour scheme. Between them, they share a separate bathroom and a shower room with a large, walk-in shower, giving options for everyone to enjoy long soaks or refreshing sprays. Also on the first floor is a handy snug/office space for catching up with admin.
Sliding doors from the conservatory lead directly out to the rear patio and a wraparound lawn. To the front of the cottage, you’ll find a further outdoor space, for enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. There is room for two cars to park on the private driveway.
