When you’re not relaxing in the village, venture out to Grimsthorpe Castle (4 miles) for afternoons of gardens and oak forests, or continue east to Bourne Wood Nature Reserve (7 miles) for a pond-side picnic. Rutland Water is well worth a visit, with its numerous trails and endless list of watersports to try. The historic hotspots of Burghley House, Belvoir Castle, and Belton Estate are all within 21 miles of each other. Round off your day by picking up meats, pies and breads at the lively market town of Stamford (18 miles) and enjoy tucking in around the table at home.
