Quirky and colourful, this handcrafted countryside retreat provides a peaceful escape (right on the Edge of The Peak District) It’s in a secluded spot and surrounded by gently rolling hills and unspoilt rural scenery, making it ideal for solo travellers seeking peace, or a romantic holiday for two. Despite the secluded spot, you’re just 1 mile away from Ashover village, a traditional Derbyshire spot known for its historic charm and access to scenic walking routes. From the doorstep, wander through quiet fields and woodland trails, perhaps spotting local wildlife. Venture further to Ogston Reservoir (6 miles) for wide-open water views and peaceful bird-watching or explore the wooded paths around Linacre Reservoirs (9 miles). The lively spa town of Matlock and neighbouring Matlock Bath (5 miles) have riverside walks, cafés and independent shops, while Cromford (8 miles), part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is rich in industrial heritage and Chatsworth House (10 miles)

This quirky wooden hut has been carefully hand-built using recycled and upcycled materials, adding to its unique character. Climb two wooden steps, head across the decking and in through the stable door. Inside, you’ll find a bright, thoughtfully designed living space that feels cosy in winter and refreshingly cool in summer. It’s decorated in a rustic style, with a small semi-circular table for sitting down with a cuppa, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The super-king-size bed promises a restful night’s sleep, dressed with soft linen and a plush goose feather and down duvet. Just next door is a separate bathroom featuring a rainhead shower.

The outdoor space, all laid to lawn, has a well-equipped cooking area where you can rustle up everything from simple breakfasts to pizzas in the wood-fired pizza oven. Spend your evenings gathered around the fire pit, soaking up views of the ancient duck pond and its striking standing stones. As night falls, the illuminated pond creates a magical, tranquil atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding under the stars. You’ll have private parking for two cars.
