The cottage is surrounded by 100 acres of its own farmland and enjoys glorious sweeping views across to Ben Rinnes and down the Spey Valley towards the River Spey and the Cairngorm National Park. Located atop a hillside just 1 mile from Archiestown, this cottage affords a stunning rural setting which nature lovers will simply adore. Just behind the property, you'll find the ancient Scots Pine trees which lead to the Elchies forest. Here you'll be spoilt for choice with endless varieties of flora and fauna to discover. The nearby 18th-century village of Archiestown is a pleasant 1-mile walk along a woodland path. Here you can stock up on supplies and enjoy a local meal in one of the many friendly establishments. The area of Moray has plenty to offer: from the beaches of the Moray Coast (around 25 miles) to the breathtaking Cairngorms National Park - approximately 50 miles away.

The traditional stone cottage gives way to a light and airy lounge which is equipped with a wood burner, plush sofas and a TV. This comfortable and homely space can accommodate five guests easily for a relaxed and cosy evening together. There is a spacious kitchen/diner which also shares the same bright, modern style and is well equipped for casual dinners and leisurely breakfasts. Also on the ground floor is a shower room with WC, a utility room and a single bedroom. A short walk up the carpeted stairs leads to two light and airy bedrooms: one double and one twin room, both tastefully decorated in a simple style with plenty of space for your clothes. There is also a family bathroom with shower over bath.

Outside, guests will find plenty of space where they can sit and enjoy the endless views of the countryside from the enclosed garden. This is the perfect picnic spot for your family to get together and enjoy the fresh air or to fire up the BBQ and eat a delicious meal alfresco.

I am sad to say it was a disappointing stay at Lynes Cottage and we left a day early. Heaters were all off on arrival and it took a couple of days to feel comfortable. The sitting room never got warm so spent our time in the kitchen. Not ideal due to drain smell. There was a flood early in the week from the dishwasher (this can happen in any home oRead moref course) and the owner called a plumber immediately to fix it but it did leave an unpleasant smell. The garden is only enclosed when the gate to the road is shut which is fine until farmers arrive and leave it open while they are there without telling us. Luckily my dog stays close. Take care if your dog is inquisitive. The path to the forest is almost non existent. We had to start from Archiestown to find the cottage end. Access to the forest from the cottage in the description sold it to us so again disappointing. Most importantly, the house needs a really good clean, particularly downstairs. Hide

Lovely comfortable cottage, well equipped, Garden was very secure for our dog, he did enjoy watching the cows. Welcome pack was very generous & appreciated. Guests should be aware that the track up to the cottage is very rough going. We would love to return.

Everything about the location was wonderful, and we often remarked how we felt like we had found a slice of paradise. We had the added benefit of being extremely lucky with the weather. As it's in the middle of the Speyside, we found that we could go a different direction every day of our stay, and find something completely new. We hope to return tRead moreo this location in the coming years. Hide

The picture on the website shows the cottage which looks to be on flat fields, its not its on top of a steep hill, This is a very nice comfortable Cottage, with lovely views all around with a large well fenced garden, secure for the dog to run at leisure, we were here the last week of August and it was very windy on top of the hill, we werent able Read moreto sit out because even the wind speed being 18 mph was very strong up on the hill, and the heating is night storage or log fire. Lovely and quiet. Hide
