In summer, the reservoir hosts various water-sports including sailing, paddle-boarding, and kayaking. The majestic rural countryside of the North Pennines surrounds you, with the Yorkshire Dales within easy reach. Barnard Castle, 10 miles away, features cobbled streets lined with shops, restaurants, and cafes, plus a Wednesday local produce market. The mediaeval castle ruins and Bowes Museum offer cultural experiences, while Raby Castle is just 14 miles from the cottage. For nature lovers, the magnificent High Force waterfall is within nine miles, and the Pennine and Teesdale Ways are just one mile away.

I did write in the visitors book and gave a good review. Perhaps it was too early in the year although we,ve holidayed in March before but the weather was windy cold and wet. We would consider booking again.

Beautiful location, very quiet and peaceful. The views from the cottage are amazing weather permitting! The cottage is comfortable, clean and welcoming. We will be returning in the future.

Perfect for a ' get away from it all ' holiday. Beautiful scenery and plenty to see and do in the area. Cottage has everything you need and the owner is very pleasant. Will go again.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Amazing views, quiet peaceful location. Owners lovely and helpful. We visited high/low force waterfalls, it is worth a visit. Enjoyed exploring walks nearby with our family who were staying near to us at Doe park. We had a lovely meal at the fox and hound pub and enjoyed a river walk Read morenear there too. We all had a great time including the dogs, thank you for a great stay. We would highly recommend. Hide

Perfect place with stunning views. If you like to be in the country this is for you. A place to relax or venture out and explore the Pennines. Everything you need for self catering, you just need to bring your food.

We loved the cottage. So peaceful and the views are stunning. Well equipped, warm and comfortable. Convenient for the observatory and neighbouring villages, High Force/ Low Force waterfalls.
