Located in the pretty Eden Valley village of Gamblesby, on the edge of the North Pennines lies this sympathetically converted barn within a pretty courtyard overlooking the original village church. On the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this pretty, peaceful village is a great base to get out and explore. Visit Lacy’s Caves, just 8 miles away, or enjoy a lovely walk following a loop to ‘Long Meg and her daughters’ – a huge Neolithic stone circle, along the River Eden and past the village of Little Salkeld. The Rheged Centre, which sits in England’s largest grass-covered building, is just 12 miles away; enjoy one the exhibitions, a movie or take part in one of the creative classes on offer. From the neighbouring village of Melmerby (1.5 miles), take to two wheels and tackle the Hartside Pass, or wander the Eden Valley after stocking up on treats from the local bakery; there are some great cycle routes straight from your front door.

As you enter the property, you are greeted by a lobby area which is ideal for hanging up your coat and storing your walking boots. On the ground floor are two comfortable bedrooms comprising of one charming twin and a lovingly decorated king-size. A spacious shower room with walk-in shower completes this floor. Heading up the stairs from the hallway to the first floor you will find a bright and open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with vaulted ceilings and rustic features. The warming wood burner, original exposed beams and feature stone walls showcase the history of the building. The kitchen area is well-equipped and has everything you need to prepare a hearty breakfast or delicious evening meal, although with a great village pub just a mile away, you may opt for a night off cooking and enjoy some pub grub!

On a fine day, open up the stable-style front door and enjoy a fresh breeze or step out onto the shared enclosed courtyard and sit out with your morning coffee to devour a good book in the warmth of this wonderful suntrap. The village location is very quiet, with the main daily soundtrack consisting of birdsong, the odd tractor and an occasional passing herd of cows or sheep!
