Property code: OC-BX026

Marine House in prime south-facing position with exceptional harbour views from a large balcony and spacious living rooms.

This property is situated close to the town centre of Brixham, which lies on the western side of the bay of Torbay, across from Torquay and just a few miles around the coast from Paignton. Brixham itself makes a lovely place for a break, with its choice of beaches, lively harbour, and range of shops and restaurants. Why not catch the ferry across to Torquay and enjoy a day strolling the seafront, sampling the bistros.

This fantastic property surely boasts some of the best views in Brixham, which can be enjoyed from all of the main living accommodation. On entering the property, guests will first find the hallway which opens onto the kitchen/diner with its wide Juliet balcony allowing guests to enjoy the spectacular views and sea breeze from the dining table. The kitchen area itself offers an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and washing machine. The bathroom on this floor has a sanctuary-like feel and offers a shower-over-bath and WC. Wooden stairs lead to the lower-ground floor where the bedrooms are located: a spacious king-size room with Juliet balcony looking over the harbour, and a compact twin room with a Juliet balcony overlooking the harbour. Taking the stairs back up, past the ground floor, guests will find the lounge on the first-floor. Arguably the most impressive room in the house, this light and airy space is dominated by the huge floor to ceiling windows which open out onto the spacious balcony from where guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy watching the boats below, a particularly enchanting view at night. Stepping back inside this L-shaped room, there is a second dining area positioned close to the window, whilst in the lounge area there are two inviting sofas, attractive feature fireplace, a TV home cinema system, and DVD. There is also a convenient cloakroom with WC on this top floor of the property, which is located just off the landing at the top of the stairs.

The large balcony off the first-floor lounge is the main outside space, but guests will definitely not feel that they are missing out on having a garden, thanks to the balcony’s fantastic position. A table and chairs have been provided, making it the perfect spot for romantic meals, or drinks as the sun goes down. There is one private, allocated parking space for guests’ use which is located up to a ten minute walk from the house.

  • Two bedrooms:
  • 1 king-size bed
  • 1 twin(3ft bed and a 2ft 6in bed)
  • Bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC, plus cloakroom with WC
  • 55 inch Smart TV.+ DVD in the main lounge
  • TV in the dining area
  • Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.
  • Top Gallant includes very rare designated parking on a private driveway, which is very much worth the walk of between 5 and 15 minutes- dependent on how directly you go and how quickly you walk. Alternatively, you can choose a slightly shorter walk to free parking in the roads surrounding the property
  • Seafront, pub, and shops all within walking distance
  • Like many Brixham harbour properties, the wooden staircase is original so turns with some restricted head height and may not be suitable for anyone who suffers from significant mobility issues
  • Brixham is busy fishing village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities and cottages in Brixham are accessed via steps some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars.
  • The owners regret that no form of 'Welcome Pack' can be provided as they do not live in Devon and as the cleaners are unable to do so
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • Sorry, no dogs allowed

Lovely well equiped accommodation and great location with fantastic views over the harbour. The parking space is a real plus but be prepared for a steep walk. Ideal for harbour restaurants and pubs.

Beautiful location overlooking the harbour. Watching the sunrise was spectacular, only topped by being fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to see the Red Arrows fly overhead. Stairs are tricky but living space, equipment, comfort etc made up for any drawbacks.

We were so lucky to stay at Top Gallant, a charming and unique house. Brixham is a hidden gem, and Top Gallant is perfectly situated right in the heart of it. We had lovely walks right at our doorstep and all the amenities we needed nearby. Sitting on the top deck and especially on the balcony, just watching Brixham life unfold was truly amazing.

A great location with the added bonus of parking albeit a 10 minute walk away. Some roads are very narrow so not suitable for larger vehicles. The cottage was really quirky, well equipped and a fantastic location close to all the amenities in Brixham. The floors are slippery so would definitely recommend taking the socks with grippers as felt it was difficult to walk on the floor even in slippers. Would be on our list of places to return too.

Our second stay, very enjoyable. Wonderful views from windows. Well equipped house and comfortable. Not suitable for people with mobility issues as stairs very steep and floors quite slippery. You will need to hold on going up and down! Close to shops and town centre but be prepared for lots of climbing up hills, worth the effort though! Visited BrRead moreixham several times, always found locals friendly and helpful. Nice cafes in pedestrian area, lots of music and theatre events. Hide

Property was very good and functional. Views are fantastic. As stated by others, the stairs are not easy to use.

The cottage is just wonderful! The location is great and we would sit upstairs or on the kitchen for hours and just watch all the things that go on in the harbour. Yes, the stairs are steep and a tiny bit slippery when you are on socks. So maybe bring some house slippers or socks with a rubber sole. Another stay at Top Gallant. As before a well equipped and comfortable cottage with all that you need to enjoy your stay, including a parking space, albeit on the other side of the harbour.
