Unfortunately Braemar is one of those holiday properties that falls firmly into the category of "cash cow". It is desperately in need of investment and modernisation, and a rather large dose of TLC. The first thing you'll be confronted with is the stupidly narrow and steep entrance driveway (with gates that open outwards!!). Your car had betteRead morer have a really good handbrake too because you're required to park in a tight and still very steep area at the top of the driveway. Note also that although there is a garage attached to this property, it is NOT available for use as a garage by paying guests (as I discovered after a very polite request was flatly refused), so that handbrake had better be in good working order! Upon entering said property, you're greeted by a dank, musty smell and a general air of "old and tired" (and don't expect a "welcome pack" 'cause there isn'tone - hmmm, how very welcoming!). Next comes the overwhelming smell of bleach from the bathroom. Gosh, is this the 1950s? Quite possibly, but you'll need to open those windows pretty smartly to let some 2026 in! Now the bathroom itself is quite large (complete with 1950s slate flooring), but defies logic by containing one of the smallest shower cubicles you've ever seen, complete with shower head that has a mind of its own (that is, YOU position it high up, IT then slowly re-positions itself low down!). And, if you're thinking of relaxing in the lounge, you'd better get used to the general air of stale sweat and the feel of a well-used, stained and hideously uncomfortable sofa. Things don't really improve at nighttime either because the main bedroom (and everything in it) is saturated with the smell of damp and mould which makes it unusable. Thank goodness there's a second bedroom, which, mercifully was usable (provided you avoid the disgustingly stained duvet!). So what about the kitchen? Well, you'll love the filthy work surfaces and sticky dining table. Here's a quick test - take some clean kitchen roll, spray a work surface with Dettol surface cleaner, wipe wipe wipe and look at the kitchen roll. Hey, it used to be white but now it's brownish grey! How did that happen? My recommendation then, is to avoid this one like the plague. Spend your hard-earned cash elsewhere. Hide

We had a lovely week in the cottage very clean & comfortable the bed was super comfy had such a good night sleep. Very well equipped with everything you needed. A few minutes walk from the Thatch which is a favourite of ours, situated for easy access to the beach & baggy point. Very pleased will be returning again next year.

Braemar is a lovely bungalow in the centre of Croyde Village, which makes its location brilliant for both the shops/pub etc very convenient and also the beach. This was about a 20 minute walk which was fine. The house is very well equipped with everything you need, and is very spacious. There is a lovely garden to the front of the property where yoRead moreu can watch the world go by. The driveway is a little tight and we did knock our wing mirror case off reversing out, but managed to put it back on. Hide
