This delightful, secluded retreat is within a 10-minute drive from the edge of Dartmoor National Park famed for its spectacular walks and scenery, creating the perfect bolthole for couples or small groups looking to enjoy a walking holiday. Close by is the National Trust Castle Drogo (6 miles), the historic landmark Scorhill Stone Circle (2.4 miles), or enjoy the calming ambience of Wistman's Wood for an impressive walk amongst ancient moss-covered trees and granite boulders (14 miles). Haldon Forest and Tamar Valley are approx. 25 miles away, and with the cottage's central location in Devon, the coastlines can be reached within 30 miles. For local amenities, the town of Okehampton is 7 miles away and has shops, pubs, supermarkets, restaurants, as well as a direct train link that runs to and from Exeter, enabling car free visits to the vibrant, historical city. With many walks available from the doorstep and close to the picturesque town of Chagford with great facilities such as cafes, restaurants, a public tennis court and an open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure, this property offers a great touring base. 

Enter the property on the first floor from the rear parking area and you’ll find the beautiful rustic kitchen/dining area complete with an oil Aga cooker. Up a couple more stairs you will find the first well-proportioned king-size bedroom with exposed beams and traditional furniture. Completing this floor is the walk-in shower room with oversized shower head. Head down the stairs from the kitchen and into the cosy lounge area with inglenook wood burner, Smart TV and sofas. Up three steps from the lounge leads you to the second king-size bedroom; a beautiful hideaway with the luxury of its own wood burner with seating area and exposed beams.

Outside the property down a few steps from the lounge is a pretty outdoor seating area; set amidst the garden with a small lawn area this offers the perfect spot for enjoying the sun and dining alfresco. The surrounding fields are home to Dartmoor ponies in the summertime.

We had a lovely few days in Three Hares Cottage. The house is in a beautiful location and Ian and Jackie were really kind and friendly hosts. The cottage was totally peaceful, very comfortable and homely. The nearby town of Chagford is a gem and we had a superb meal at The Globe Inn.

A cosy cottage in a lovely location. We stayed for 3 nights in March and it was perfect for exploring Dartmoor. The owners were friendly and helpful and it was interesting to hear about the history of the cottage. It was very well equipped, peaceful and comfortable.

We received a very warm welcome, the kitchen table was lovingly laid with local delicacies to welcome us, and thank you again for the beautiful bouquet of flowers. Surprised that the cottage wasn't fully booked for the season! Very clean and comfortable and so well equipped. We were only there for three days, but when we arrived there was home baked bread, everything for a cream tea, a bottle of milk and a bottle of wine. Amazing! The cottage is very cozy and fully furnished and equipped with all conveniences. We have not seen them so complete. The location is really perfect, wonderfully quiet between the meadows that border the Dartmoor park, which you can walk to. Staying at Three Hares Cottage was a true delight. The hosts warmth made the experience even more special. We had a lovely, peaceful time at 3 Hares Cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. Jackie and Ian gave us a very warm welcome. Lovely cottage in a very peaceful setting. Everything we needed was in the cottage which was lovely and warm to return to after a day's walking. Jackie and Ian very friendly and left a lovely welcome pack including scones, bread, milk and eggs. The cottage was clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable. We went in September and it was a bit chilly in the mornings, but I could not see where to advance the central heating. I shouldve spoken to the host, but I did not find out how to do it but we still had a very pleasant stay.

really a brilliant cottage, lot of space, perfectly equipped, beautiful and stylish furniture, warm welcome and phantastic welcome package, very friendly and helpful landlords; definitely one of the best cottages we ever rented, 100% recommended! If we ever come to the dartmore region Three Hare cottage will be our choice!
