  • Hot tub, games room and pretty garden with BBQ
  • Quiet village location with rolling countryside views
Property code: OC-88351

The former station is set in idyllic Fron Gogh, nestling between Bala’s Llyn Tegid and Capel Celyn lakes, surrounded by the Arenig mountains. Stroll along the River Tryweryn, towards the National Whitewater Centre which is within a mile. Bala is just under 3 miles away, famous for its lake, which is the largest natural lake in Wales and home to a unique fish called the Gwyniaid, a relic of the Ice Age! Enjoy a ride on the narrow-gauge Bala Lake Railway or visit the independent shops, eateries and the historic Town Walk. Surrounded by the fantastic Berwyn Mountains on one side and the magnificent Snowdonia Mountain Range on the other, this is a great destination for either a relaxing or active holiday.

This detached, single-storey former railway station is full of interesting features and thoughtful little extras to enhance your stay. Enter through the front door into the hall with space to store coats. Walk through to the stylish kitchen/diner with plenty of space to rustle up a meal with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Switch on the Smart TV to keep the chef entertained while cooking. When your meal is ready, gather round the dining table and enjoy the lovely views from the glass door and windows. After a full day out, relax in the comfortable lounge with sofas and Smart TV, there is also a wood burner for cosy nights in. When ready for bed, choose from three fabulous bedrooms: one double with en-suite shower room and WC, one twin and the full-size bunk room - all have lovely views to wake up to. There is a stylish bathroom, with bath and WC, why not indulge in a leisurely bath to start your day.

Outside you will find an enclosed landscaped garden with furniture and charcoal BBQ, making it a comfortable and scenic spot for al fresco dining. There is a hot tub to unwind in, and the former signal box has found a new lease of life as a quirky games room with pool table. The enclosed garden has stunning views where you can enjoy the sounds of the river, watch the wildlife and just relax. Take morning coffee on the former Great Western Railway's Bala Ffestiniog Line, which is no longer in use so no trains passing by! Why not enjoy a picnic by the river or on the lawn. Parking for four cars at the property and undercover store in the games room if you are bringing your bikes and/or kayaks with you.

Lovely, spacious property, bigger than it looks in the photos. 6min drive to Bala where there's a co-op, off licence, bakers, etc. Not within walking distance of any pubs/restaurants, but you can walk along the river to a white water rafting place with a cafe (ask the owner for directions, as its not clear which way to go). Lovely cake and pint ofRead more milk left for us. Comfy beds. Garden is big and our dog absolutely loved running about in it. Hes a 10kg cockapoo and it was safe, but there is a small section of trellis type fencing, in one area that a smaller dog could squeeze through - would be great if the owner could run a bit of chicken wire or similar along the bottom of this section, to make it safe. Fencing is low (maybe 3ft), so fine as long as you don't have a jumper. Sitting in the hot tub on a frosty morning, listening to the river gushing by and the birds singing, was sheer bliss. Loads of pots, pans, crockery, etc, so you can cook a great meal in the lovely big kitchen. Stunning scenery everywhere. Would recommend visiting Dolgellau and Barmouth. Beddgelert & betws y coed are beautiful, although do get busy with tourists. The Torrent Walk is lovely and the George III pub is very good and lovely views from the terrace. Would definitely return to this part of the world and would very happily stay in the old railway station again. Hide

A well appointed and spacious cottage set in a peaceful location. A great base to explore Snowdonia but also a relaxing retreat to sit or soak listening to the sounds of the river and a wide variety of bird song. A large and safe garden for our doggy friend made it a perfect experience.

The property was truly excellent and in a great location for all sorts of local attractions. The Bara Brith left for us by the owners was delicious, and the best we tasted anywhere during our two week stay. Thank you very much for a wonderful holiday!
