Nearby Newtown on the River Severn offers a contemporary gallery, cinema, theatre, shops, restaurants and cafes. For weekly markets and a wider range of eateries, shops and events, you can also pop to Bishops Castle, Church Stretton, Montgomery, Ludlow and Shrewsbury, all within easy reach. Activities include walking, climbing, cycling, boating, fishing and even hang-gliding, and some attractions include Stokesay, Powys, Ludlow and Shrewsbury Castles, Acton Scott Working Farm and nearby National Trust properties. There’s so much to see and do; this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a more active holiday.

This beautiful barn conversion is located on the lovely Cwm Weeg estate and is creatively designed with interesting features, exposed beams, oak floors, vibrant colours, creature comforts and wonderful surprises around every corner. As you enter the property, there is plenty of space for your walking boots and outdoor attire in the hallway, which leads into the kitchen, and down to the basement where there is a utility room housing the washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. The kitchen is well-equipped with all you need including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and the thoughtful little extras. Natural light floods in the windows as you rustle up a meal in the spacious kitchen, with the dining table perfectly positioned for everyone to gather round and enjoy a meal together. After dinner, head down to the basement games room with football table or head up to the lovely lounge with high ceilings and French doors to let the outside in. Relax on the comfortable sofas and chairs, watch a film on TV, plan your holiday activities or just chat by the glow of the wood burner. There’s a wide selection on the bookcases, choose one and snuggle up on the chair with a good book. After a full day out, take a leisurely bath or shower in the bathroom, and choose from one of three beautiful bedrooms: a king-size with en-suite shower room and WC, another king-size and a twin. All the bedrooms have quality linen and have been designed for a good night’s sleep. There is also a fourth bedroom which is a master suite with a separate access; up the steps, you’ll walk into the sun room with table, chairs and stunning rural views, then walk through to the studio with king-size bed, TV, tub chairs, mini kitchen with two-ring electric hob, sink, fridge and microwave. At the far end of the studio is the en-suite shower room and separate WC. This is quite a unique property for friends and family to holiday in and wake up to the most magical of settings.

Outside, the private garden has an extensive deck with a hot tub to enjoy beautiful rolling countryside views from sunrise to sunset. The paved area is a lovely spot for al fresco dining, maybe a BBQ, with a table and chairs to sit in the sun or take shade in the undercover area if you prefer. There is also an outdoor table tennis table for a friendly competition between yourselves. You are welcome to explore the 24-acre garden and grounds, designed and created by the owners, with established borders, seasonal interest, unique features, ancient woodlands and wildflower meadows. The garden is occasionally open to the public, so please ask us for these dates when booking.

The cottage is a lovely place to stay, really loved it was peaceful, and in such beautiful surroundings. The drive to get to it, although single track with passing places, had amazing views around it. Was great to explore the gardens, alot of work has been put into them. The description does not really do justice to this property which is the gate house to Cwm Weeg gardens, a private garden occasionally open to the public. It is an idyllic spot if you like to be in the middle of the countryside just amongst nature, experiencing peace and quiet. The owners live in the main house which itself is a design masterpiece.Read more A rather quirkily designed property with everything you need and in nice weather, a balcony to sit and listen to birds all day.
