Property code: OC-BX045

Found in a fantastic position overlooking Brixham’s famous harbour, where fishing boats rub shoulders with the pleasure craft which take visitors on tours of the bay. Like much of South Devon, Torbay is known for its beaches, and thanks to the English Riviera’s microclimate, the sea is usually warmer than it is in other parts of Devon. Why not spend a day at quiet St Mary’s Bay, or secluded Fishcombe Cove, both of which lie within a thirty-minute walk or very short drive of the cottage. There are plenty of interesting shops and galleries in the town, as well as a good range of restaurants, many specialising in the local seafood which is brought in daily by the local fishermen.

Guests will find this cottage at the end of a quiet road, giving it a lovely secluded feel, away from the main buzz of the town and yet still within a short walk of all amenities. Entering the property, guests will find the perfect spot to leave coats and walking boots before hearing off to be drawn into the lounge where the huge picture window offers spectacular sea views, surely one of the best in Brixham. With the ever-changing harbour views, there would seem to be little need for a TV in this light-filled room, but just in case guests are able to tear themselves away from the window, there is a TV here, as well as a feature fireplace with a wood burner which gives the room a lovely cosy feel, even through the coldest months. The separate dining room gives dining for all six guests and leads through to the kitchen via a feature door and one step up. The kitchen itself is a smart, contemporary space and it is perfect for keen foodies and is provided with an excellent range of equipment, including a Range oven, hob, microwave, American-style fridge/freezer, and dishwasher, whilst the washing machine, tumble dryer, and a handy extra sink can be found in the utility end of this space. The master bedroom, a king-size, on the first-floor enjoys the same stunning views as the lounge, giving guests a terrific sight to wake up to. The second bedroom on this floor is a twin room.  The shower room on this floor has a walk-in shower and WC. The third bedroom on the second floor which is a double room, again with beautiful sea views. Guests should be aware that due to the fact that this room is in the eaves of the house, there is some reduced head-height. An additional quiet reading room is opened for guests use on this floor with the benefit of a kitchenette area and shower room.

Outside, there is a pretty patio garden to the side of the property, with garden furniture which makes it a pleasant space to enjoy the sun and drink in the fabulous views over the inner harbour bowl.

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 1 king size bed, located on the first floor
  • 1 twin room, located on the first floor with views to the garden
  • 1 double room located on the top floor with views across the harbour
  •  Shower room with walk- in shower and WC, located on the first floor plus another shower room with WC located on the top floor
  • The Lounge room with a TV and dramatic views across Brixham harbour on ground floor
  • Additional sitting room on the top floor
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Wood burner (logs not included)
  • Gas range oven and hob, microwave, a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer
  • Beach, shops, and pubs all within walking distance
  • Steep cottage-style stairs make this property unsuitable for those with mobility issues, and children will need supervision
  • Please note dogs are not allowed on the beds or furniture
  • Brixham is a busy fishing village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities and cottages in Brixham are accessed via steps some of which can be steep.
  • Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Brixham do not have private parking. However, alternative parking is available in local carparks.
  • Arrival: 17:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

Just had our third stay in Hairpin Cottage and as usual, a lovely place to have a holiday. We never grow tired of the lovely views and always return home totally relaxed. It's an ideal place to stay to explore the surrounding area, with good public transport if you don't want to take the car. Look forward to returning next year!!

Wonderful views to wake up to! Bed was enormous and comfortable. Shower was good and hot. We loved having a little fire to take the chill off. It is a very steep walk down steps to the harbour although there is a longer walk with no steps if needed. We managed the steps very well and the view made up for the effort in climbing!

We really enjoyed staying at Hairpin Cottage and the view is fantastic. We loved how close it was to Berry Head for walking the dogs and easy to walk down to the harbour.

Our second stay in this lovely cottage. A great place with fantastic views over the harbour and beyond! The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. This home was absolutely perfect for our stay in Brixham. The views are incredible and a perfect back drop for socializing with friends. A short walk down lots of steps to explore Brixham itself, not ideal for all but absolutely brilliant for our young explorers. Upon entering property there was a nasty smell which remained even when opening windows. Soft furnishings and carpets very shabby and dirty. Position of property first class with unsurpassable views - just needs some TLC.

Needs a deep clean and new carpets and furniture. Great views but the windows are filthy. Top floor sitting room is very poorly furnished with old mis matched furniture and a sofa i would not sit on. Felt more like student accommodation than a holiday let. Patio area is full of weeds and generally unloved. Kitchen is modern and well equipped. ShoweRead morered was good but bathroom fixtures and fittings generally poor quality. I would not return to this property. Hide
