Enjoying a peaceful setting within a pretty village and close to the Wye Valley Arts Centre, this spacious ground floor, single level, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom accommodationis pet friendly and simply perfect for small families and friends wanting to explore an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Llandogo is a small village between Monmouth and Tintern, set on the banks of the River Wye, where you can enjoy an abundance of wildlife and river walks with breathtaking scenery. The neighbouring village of Tintern is just 3 miles south, home to a magnificent 12th-century abbey that dominates the landscape. Walkers can take advantage of the Offa’s Dyke and Wye Valley Trail, whilst cyclists take on the National Cycle Trail. The River Wye is popular for kayaking and some of the best fly fishing in the UK. For history buffs, there are a myriad of castles including Chepstow, Caldicot and Raglan, and some of the largest Roman settlements in the UK at Caerwent and Caerleon, all within a 30 mile radius. One famous visitor to Llandogo, William Wordsworth, once wrote about the cottages on the hills and the wreaths of smoke sent up in silence, from among the trees. However, in the 18th and 19th century it was known for boatbuilding and the lodge is part of the converted Lion Sawmill which produced small items of furniture from the offcuts of the trees felled for boat building and architectural construction.

The lodge enjoys a peaceful location and is accessed via the gardens to the rear. Two rustic chairs are situated close to the door where you can take a seat to remove muddy boots or to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening looking out to the Wye Valley. Enter into the spacious kitchen/diner which enjoys natural light from the picture windows and has been beautifully and practically furnished. There’s a comfortable sofa where you can relax with a good book or to watch dinner being prepared, and a dining table and chairs is perfect for a hearty supper. The cleverly configured kitchen has a breakfast bar with four bar stools, and is well-equipped with everything you’ll need during your stay. A collection of local artwork finishes the space beautifully. Enter the lounge where you can truly relax. Again, the room enjoys natural light and has been finished with comfortable sofas, a Smart TV/DVD and electric effect fire. And when the day is done, guests have the choice of two bedrooms, a generously sized double bedroom with en-suite shower and WC, and a twin room. There is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Outside, guests can relax whilst enjoying a morning coffee, the garden has an open aspect with a small table and chairs.

Well equipped and comfortable cottage in a beautiful location. It worked well for my husband who uses a rollator walking frame as he has limited mobility.

The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival. Access was easy. Parking out the front of the accomodation was perfect. The cottage was big and spacious which helped as 1 person in our party was in a wheelchair and managed to move around easy. The kitchen was equipped with everything you needed and more. And having a washing machine was a handy touch.Read more The main bathroom was big and spacious and always ample of hot water. The area was lovely. And only a short walk to the local pub. Hide

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. However, we had no idea from the pictures or the description, that we would have upstairs neighbours. At times, especially at night, they were quite noisy. If I had known this I would not have booked this cottage. Everything else about the location and the cottage was perfect.

A lovely well equipped cottage. Tucked away but a great location for visiting all the sights. Sadly the village shop is closed so you need to come with adequate provisions. We would definitely return.

The cottage was really well equipped. Beds comfortable bathrooms very good. I am being picky that I do not much like leather sofas, bit cold but not a real issue. Heating was a bit difficult to understand but owner was very good & sorted it out.

We had a wonderful stay, could not fault the lodge. Very comfortable, everything we needed. If we were to critic this property, it would be nice to have more comfortable seating for outside. Either a bench or two comfortable chairs the metal ones were most uncomfortable to sit in the sun. Saying that we would love to return, there was a very helpfuRead morel neighbour too, with a little friendly dog. Hide
