The cottage was perfect for exploring Appledore. It is right in the heart of the village with places to eat, drink and have coffee. It is very well equipped, and the king size bed so so comfortable.

Please do not waste your money renting this cottage! The photos shown on website are totally misleading! We had issues with broken door frames, cupboards falling off propped up by footstool in lounge. Towels so stained we had to boil wash them before use ( using washing machine in other cottage we had) Single bed mattress not fit for a dog let alonRead moree a child. False fingernail found on bedroom floor. Lounge /kitchen floor had been swept with pile of dirt left under radiator. Kettle didnot work told to wiggle the cable !! House keeper was away so only came next day with some towels and a kettle (not new so unsure it had passed a PAT) Was told owner was meant to have replaced it!! To be honest list is endless and we were there to celebrate my daughters 40th what a let down!!! Hide

We stayed at this cottage with our three children under 5 for 9 days. The cottage had very comfy beds (better than our own) with nice linen and a good hot shower. The heating was very powerful and we appreciated the dishwasher, towels provided and kitchen equipment in the cupboards. Also the stair gate, laundry rack and hangers came in handy. TRead morehere is no washing machine. The host communicated really well. We understand that cottages like these have character and it was mostly clean throughout. We felt it was a fair price and suited a boisterous family of 5 with young kids. We do not have a dog. More could be made of the garden by adding a lick of paint, some plants, outdoor lights etc. The host left us some milk and a few essentials like some bin bags, dishwasher tablets, cloths and cleaning products. The cottage was in a very pretty street just moments from the chip shop, the pub, the bakery, nice cafes and the quay. We enjoyed Market Street Kitchen and Johns. Appledore is really beautiful and we would strongly recommend great trips to Clovelly, Bucks Mills, Instow, walking the Tarka Trail from Bideford. Also people recommended to us Bude, Hartland and Croyde. Appledore is a perfect base for families and this was our third trip to the village. There is parking in the main car park, a playground and lots of quiet streets. At low tide the rock pools are lovely to explore with small children. It should be highlighted that the location is absolutely excellent. Hide

Disappointing stay- good location, bed was comfy and shower was good but cottage was thick with dust on lampshades and radiators, broken TRVs, knives were blunt and corkscrew useless, take your own! This is a bijoux property in a perfect central location to enjoy Appledore. It's been very nicely done, great kitchen. No sea views but as a quality bolthole for a few days it's lovely. Only niggles it could do with a bigger sofa and better communication with the point of contact. And please fix the lock on the backdoor!

Lovely comfortable cottage - a real home from home feel. Cottage was very well equipped. Great location in the village, easy access to all local facilities. Fab frequent bus service to Bideford and Barnstaple, good for shops and visitor attractions, including the Tarka Trail. Would definitely return to this accommodation.

Great location but very small property. We travelled with 2 teenage kids and 2 dogs and so seating space in the living room was at a premium. Literally on the doorstep of the pubs and restaurants however.
