Property code: OC-BX043

This property is located close to Brixham town centre, just a few minutes’ walk from the town’s busy harbour with its heritage fishing fleet, and tour boats. The whole region is known for the clear blue water and warm seas at the beaches, and there are several beaches within easy reach of the town centre, including Shoalstone Beach which has the added bonus of a tidal pool, and quiet Fishcombe Cove. The coastal walks around the edges of the town are absolutely stunning, whether you fancy walking out to the lighthouse at Berryhead National Nature Reserve, or enjoying the picturesque six-mile hike to the neighbouring town of Paignton.

A number of external steps lead to the front door of this former-fishermen’s cottage, which opens directly into the cosy lounge, with its warming wood-burner , comfortable seating, and Smart TV. Moving towards the rear of the property, past the stairs, guests come to the kitchen/diner, where there is a dining table seating four, an oven, hob, microwave, fridge with an ice compartment, counter freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. A door from the kitchen area leads to the rear courtyard and steep steps to the elevated sun terrace. Wooden stairs lead to the first floor where there is an attractive double room which has a double bed, and built-in wardrobe. The bathroom is also on this floor, and offers the best of both worlds, with a corner bath, separate shower cubicle, and WC. Steep winding cottage-style stairs (unsuitable for children under five) lead to the second-floor bedroom, a charming twin room offering views across the town’s roof tops. Guests should be aware that this bedroom is in the eaves of the house and, therefore is subject to a reduced head-height.

Outside, the property benefits from a small enclosed courtyard garden and steep steps which lead to the elevated sun terrace, this is set to shingle and has a table and bench seating, a quiet space overlooking the town with garden furniture, making an excellent space to enjoy drinks in the sun and cooking on the Mediterranean BBQ. Guests should be aware that this is a high-level terrace and steep stairs lead to it, therefore it is not suitable for under-fives.

  • 2 bedrooms:
  • 1 double and 1 twin
  • 1 large Bathroom with bath, separate shower, and WC
  • Smart TV
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Wood-burner
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge with an ice compartment, counter freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine
  • Electric and heating included
  • Bed linen and towels included
  • Charcoal BBQ
  • Regret no children under 5's, due to very steep stairs both inside and out and the window of the bedroom is a fire escape and has no lock fitted
  • Beach, shops, and pubs all within walking distance
  • Brixham is a busy fishing village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities and cottages in Brixham are accessed via steps some of which can be steep.
  • Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Brixham do not have private parking. However, alternative parking is available in local carparks.
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

We had a lovely stay in Brixham. The property is in an ideal location for getting to the harbour and centre where there are lovely walks and places to stop for a drink or something to eat. We paid for a weeks pass for the carpark close by as we didnt have any luck with the suggested on road parking. The property itself was lacking in a few basic itRead moreems such as hand wash and the kitchen wasnt as well equipped as other reviews suggested. With a little bit more attention to detail and care, this property would be perfect. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend Brixham. Hide

We loved our stay at Holly Cottage. Its really comfortable and cosy - nice furnishings and comfortable mattresses. And its in a great location - so close to town (either on the road which is sloped or down steps). Parking was ok - we always found a spot within a two minute walking distance, and whilst there are double yellows outside the house, theRead moreres enough space to pull up and get your suitcases/shopping etc out before finding somewhere appropriate to park. Just dont park there all the time! The dogs loved their stay as well and are dreaming about going back! Hide

Lovely little cottage in a great location few minutes from the harbour. Kitchen is well equipped and main bedroom has comfortable double bed. The 2nd bedroom was ok. We knew it was a dog friendly cottage but I was not expecting such a strong dog smell in the living room. It was really uncomfortable. Overall the cottage appears unloved. It is up forRead more sale and there were pots with dead plants outside the front and the terrace. The windows desperately need a clean! Loved Brixham though! Hide

A lovely cosy, well equipped cottage for two, but the stairs to the top twin room are extremely narrow- I definitely wouldn't want to put children up there. Steps to the garden are also very steep. The location is perfect - close to everything, and Brixham is fab. We had a lovely stay.
