Escape to the southern tip of Snowdonia National Park and embrace a holiday characterised by long rambles, spectacular views and exciting opportunities for activities on land and in the water. This attractive stone barn sleeps four and is located just 3 miles from Aberdyfi, a delightful seaside village popular amongst families and couples alike. Whether you are lured by the excellent walks where the mountains meet the sea at the mouth of the River Dyfi or the excitement of the beach, there really is something for everyone here. For the white-knuckle thrill-seekers, there are water sports galore including windsurfing, sailing and paddleboarding, but you’ll also be able to adopt a quieter pace and tee off at the 18-hole championship golf course if you prefer.

Climb up the steps and cross the threshold, stepping through the stone exterior ready to unwind. You’ll discover a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with high vaulted ceilings and timber beams. Slate tiling underfoot and glimpses of exposed stonework, together with the wood burner, create a cosy ambience for snuggling up on the sofas. Watch your favourite films on the TV or break open a pack of cards for some leisurely entertainment before supper. The kitchen area has an electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave and a fridge/freezer, and there’s a compact dining table for feasting together. In terms of practicality, the utility room is equipped with some useful drying space alongside a washer/dryer. There is a shower room with a walk-in shower and WC, and there is a separate WC too. The two bedrooms are a pleasant sight when you are weary from your day - the first is a homely and inviting ground-floor bedroom with a double bed, bedroom furniture and an oak dressing table. Accessed via a set of stairs, the second bedroom is mezzanine-style with two small 2ft 6” beds, built-in storage and bedroom furniture, as well as a TV for a bonus treat. Please take care when choosing beds, one of the twin beds is positioned next to the bannister that is open to the stairs.

Outside, the garden is a delightful spot to sip your first coffee of the day whilst you admire the mature trees and shrubs. The ornamental pond adds an extra sense of relaxation, and you may be lucky enough to see some of the resident wildlife flitting across it. Off-road parking is available for two cars.

Positives: cottage design is interesting; nice clean spacious kitchen and everything worked. Welcome gifts of wine milk & welsh cakes. Hot water in shower, although some air locks at times. Beds comfy and good quality clean bedding. View from terrace to estuary is lovely and could hear the geese in the evening which was nice. Garden secure for dogRead mores. Improvements: whilst superficially clean the cottage needs a good deep clean and some refurbishing required in places. Looks a bit tired and jaded. Garden overgrown in places. Nowhere to walk dog from cottage without going on the busy road. Road noisy during the day but not a problem during the evening/ night. Hide

Lovely cosy cottage. I stayed 3 nights with my dog. Very clean, welcome pack (milk, wine, Welsh cakes) a nice touch. Didn't use the outside space because of time of year but lovely views from the house. Could hear traffic and trains but not intrusive. When we arrived at the cottage we thought it was in a great location and looked very idyllic, it has a lovely outdoor seating area and plenty of room to park. Once we entered the cottage we were surprised by the amount of space and lovely features. We were there with our baby and did have to complain about the travel cot and high chair but the owneRead morers very quickly brought replacements and we were reimbursed for the inconvenience caused. The place needs a deep clean but overall we had a nice stay. Hide

We had a very comfortable stay, shower worked well, beds comfortable, warm blankets, kitchen equipped with what we needed and we were very grateful for the extras in kitchen, seasoning, spray oil and a couple of gifts! The water is pumped so can spurt and take you by surprise and being by a road there is a bit of noise but it is very quiet overnighRead moret. Being a countryside property we were joined by a few spiders but no issues apart from some webs. Will book again if in the area! Hide

Lovely break in the Gatehouse. We loved the welcoming touches on arrival, the wood burning stove made for a cosy evening, enclosed garden just right for our small dog to explore and the weather was great so appreciated the decked area to sit out.
