  • Cosy around the electric coal-effect fire at the hub of the house for chilly evenings
Property code: OC-DY027

This traditional cottage sleeps five and is perched at the heart of charming Aberdovey close to a range of shops, galleries and eateries. Wander down to the harbour and watch the boats, perhaps arranging a day of sailing or some fun water sports activities such as paddleboarding and windsurfing. Crabbing is a popular pastime from the jetty, and the glorious sandy beach is a sheer treat for building sandcastles. Your handy location means you could soon be discovering the diverse landscape of Snowdonia National Park and the Ceredigion Coastline, choosing between mountain ranges and rugged stretches of coast path for your daily dose of scenic walks. Aberdovey is also renowned for its 18-hole championship golf course, a must for both the experienced and amateur golfer.

Compact yet cosy with homely extra touches including underfloor heating downstairs and in the first-floor bathroom, the cottage has an underlying nautical-themed decor and is well suited to couples, small families and friendship groups. Navigate the two steps leading up to the property and head through the stable-style door, preparing to relax and unwind in the open-plan kitchen/diner. There are deep sofas, snug armchairs and an electric coal-effect fire, ideal for snuggling on chilly evenings whilst you’re being entertained by the TV with Netflix and Bluetooth BOSE speaker. There’s a dining table for social suppers, and a narrow archway reveals the compact kitchen that’s equipped with everything you need to prepare meals and take care of the clean-up operation afterwards. There is an electric oven and grill, gas hob, fridge, freezer, slimline dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer and De’Longhi cappuccino/latte maker. The stairs are steep and have a fixed stair gate attached and lead up to the first-floor landing that has wooden floorboards and a single beam overhead. The first bedroom features a double bed, bedroom furniture and built-in storage, finished with fresh decor and careful lighting. Along from here, you’ll also find the bathroom, an elegant room with a shower over the bath and WC. The remaining bedrooms are at the top of another steep flight of stairs, be sure to mind your head as you climb them. You’ll be rewarded with two pretty bedrooms – one small single room with simple hanging space for clothes and bedroom furniture, and a double bedroom with built-in storage.

There may not be a dedicated outside space for your abode, but on warm mornings there is a small bench immediately outside your front door that’s ideal for sipping your coffee and watching the world go by. A short 0.5-mile walk will bring you to the beach and Aberdovey’s array of cafes, pubs and restaurants. A permit is provided for one car to use in one of the nearby car parks.

We chose this property due to ita location. I have a chronic health condition which means although I can walk and do steps, I cant do too much of either. So this review is based on my experience with these limitations. I visited with my husband and our dog. The location is fab, right in the centre of Aberdyfi. A minute from a lovely eatery, pub, Read moredeli, butchers and other shops. Cross the road and you are on the seafront with easy flat walks either way. There is no general store in the centre of the village, so my husband walked about 10mins to the Post Office/small convenience store for supplies such as toilet roll. The property itself is accessed up two steps. One of which is quite high, but there is a sturdy railing and I coped fine. Inside has a shallow step into kitchen - no bother. The stairs are typically steep and narrow, but with two handrails it felt very easy and safe. Shower is over bath. But I coped fine, and the shower itself was lovely. The place is very clean, although a bit tired in some places. Overall though, really cosy cute place to chill or use as a base if you wanted to explore. Hide

Lovely cottage for a family holiday. Superb location, well equipped. Really handy to have a parking permit for the stay. Beds comfy, lovely and warm (underfloor heating was great!). Aberdyfi is wonderful and close to a lot of family and dog friendly activities. Strongly recommended.

Excellent location, especially for lovely, huge, beach. Lots of good tearooms and pubs nearby. Cottage is clean and spacious. Living room and kitchen a bit tired looking, but overall house is good value.

Great location, but otherwise disappointing. Cleanliness needs a bit of attention and some furniture and furnishings are shabby and grubby. The whole cottage is in need of TLC.
