If you’re looking for a quirky retreat with cute neighbours, including adorable sheep and goats, then this shepherd’s hut near Newport on the Isle of Wight is perfect. The farm the property sits on is home to animals rescued by the owner and you’re welcome to meet them. Newport offers much to see and do -– Carisbrooke Castle (4 miles) and Osborne House (6 miles) are well worth a visit for history fans, or you can enjoy a scenic trip on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway (3 miles). There are many cycling and walking opportunities on your doorstep, including the Red Squirrel Trail, and Newport (2 miles) has some great shops and eateries to explore.
Surrounded by trees, this idyllic property has rustic charm baked right in. A small set of steps leads up to the hut, which has a stable door – peak inside and note the attractive shutters that adorn the windows and the quaint lamps that hang from the ceiling. The compact kitchen features a small table with bar stools and thoughtful extra touches including a coffee machine with a supply of pods, fresh bread and freshly -laid eggs. There’s also a photo album detailing how the property was created, as well as a TV and an electric fire. On the left is a comfortable double bed with a high-quality mattress designed with a great night’s sleep in mind. Completing the accommodation is the stylish shower room.
Outside, the hut has its own stone-chipped patio area, marked out by a very low wooden border and two welcoming lampposts. The impressive Wood Fire Heated Hot Tub to relax in after a day exploring. Youll also find a table and chairs, a BBQ and a fire pit, making it the perfect place to sit out and perhaps spot the woodpeckers, red squirrels and an array of inquisitive birds who visit from time to time. A grass area beyond the patio has two sun loungers, where you can sit back with a good book or plan the next day’s activities.
