This charming cottage is located on a small 12 acre farm within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s home to horses and a few free-range chickens, while the pond on site attracts ducks, moorhens, and the occasional heron. The lovely sandy beaches of Sandown are nearby, as is dog friendly Yaverland beach. The area is excellent for walking, with footpaths leading up onto the downs and towards the coast. Fishing ponds and bird and red squirrel watching are available in the water meadows, while a cycle track gives access to large parts of the island along the old railway tracks.
The cottage is a sympathetic barn conversion, offering attractive and comfortable accommodation for small families. It boasts underfloor heating and solar powered hot water. The compact kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with freezer section, and a dishwasher, while a washing machine and tumble dryer are also available in the cottage. There’s a spacious and light open-plan lounge/diner which extends the width of the cottage, with patio doors opening onto the courtyard garden. Here you can relax in front of the wood burning stove on the comfortable sofa, perhaps watching the Smart TV. Beside the window is a pleasant dining area. Also on the ground floor is a wet room with shower and WC, while upstairs there’s a bathroom with bath, overhead shower, and WC. Also upstairs are two attractive bedrooms which enjoy stunning rural views - one spacious double and a cosy twin.
Enjoy the sunshine in the attractive enclosed courtyard, which has views over the paddocks to the pond. Garden furniture and a BBQ are provided so that meals can be enjoyed al fresco. Parking is available to the rear of the cottage, and there’s also space to store bicycles. There’s also access to a shared outbuilding beside the cottage which has a freezer.
