Upwey is 4 miles north of the vibrant town centre of Weymouth where you can take a stroll around the historic old harbour, visit Nothe Forte or enjoy the sandy beach. There is also a wide selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Those wishing to get active will find plenty to do here as the town is backed by rolling hills, with many walking routes to explore, including the South West Coast Path. Within 10 miles of the cottage there are many popular attractions such as the lighthouse at Portland Bill, Bowleaze Cove and Chesil Beach, the county town of Dorchester and picturesque village of Abbotsbury, which is home to a swannery and sub-tropical gardens.

From the roadside, a shared drive gives access to the private entrance into this detached cottage. Once inside, there is a step up into the charming country-style kitchen, which has an electric range-style oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is space for two to casually dine here. Just next door is the inviting open-plan lounge/diner. This lovely room has an open fire, TV and plenty of comfortable seating, plus a table for leisurely family meals. Winding stairs lead from here to the first floor. There are three bedrooms to chose from, a single and a double to the front of the cottage and a pretty king-size bedroom to the rear with en-suite WC and views over pastureland. There is a contemporary bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Due to the setting within the eaves there are changes of level and areas of restricted head height throughout the first floor, which only adds to its character and charm.

A door opens from the kitchen to a narrow path with a pretty chalk stream running alongside it, which gives access to the courtyard garden. There is a patio area with furniture and from here you can enjoy countryside views and the sounds of the stream. The water is shallow, but due to the uneven surfaces and proximity to the path, care should be taken. To the front of the property is ample roadside parking (subject to availability).

A beautiful, cosy cottage, a proper home from home. Comfy beds and couches, lovely to sink into after a days sightseeing. The kitchen was very well-equipped with everything needed to prepare breakfasts and evening meals.

Appreciate the welcome pack. We had a pleasant stay for a week, Flowing Well Tea Rooms, 5 mins walk up Church Street were a fabulous find. Short walk to bus stops, 15min ride into Weymouth. Cheaper than carparks. Overall the cottage met our needs, as did the weather for the week.

Beautiful cottage, very comfortable and well equipped. Ideal location, surrounding area, village and open countryside, but close to Weymouth where we visited sea world and had best fish and chips ever at Bennetts by the harbour.

I would like to say, that the cottage was really lovely and cosy, in a nice spot to explore the surrounding area. The cottage was well equipped and lovely to have tea, coffee and milk to last a couple of days, lovely. Only draw back was the road works that caused a little build up during the day, but the works will be finished by Dec, just a small Read moreprice to pay for such a lovely cottage. Hide

Cottage location very good to visit many places for all ages, only drawback is traffic noise outside which in August is most of the time.

Loved the fact that there was a bottle of wine, pint of milk and delicious cookies as well as basic staples like tea-bags, oil, salt etc also bath and hand wash and cleaning products. All you have to do is pack your clothes and go. Masses of fridge and freezer space. Tiny but perfect garden and not overlooked but very friendly neighbours who will kRead moreeep an eye on the bins if you forget to put them out or bring them in but without being intrusive. Great place. Hide

Despite the mediocre performance of Holiday Cottages when we booked, Bramble Cottage was a superb base for a wonderfully relaxed holiday and enhanced by the very helpful and welcoming input of the owner.

An absolute gem of a cottage. We loved our stay here. Fully stocked with everything we needed and the sound of the stream was perfection. Location was great with easy access for exploring. Parking was no problem as there was always space on the road.

Bramble cottage is a beautiful traditional cottage and like a tardis inside. It's ideally situated for lots of walks and just a short drive to Weymouth itself. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped and the welcome pack was really appreciated. We would definitely go back
