Nestled within the grounds of the owner’s home, the cottage offers luxurious accommodation with plenty of privacy. Access a range of cycling and walking routes from the doorstep or drive for a tasty breakfast at the nearby farm shop (2 miles). The village of Langley Park is less than a mile with an Italian cafe, which also serves breakfasts, a pub, and a ‘BYOB’ restaurant, plus takeaways and shops. Visit the house, chapel, gardens, and various events taking place at Ushaw: Historic House, Chapels & Gardens (2 miles). Explore Durham for the University, magnificent cathedral, river walks, and museums using the convenient Park and Ride system (3.5 miles). Spend a day at Beamish Living Museum (8 miles), an open-air museum where you can learn about life in North East England over the last two centuries.

This enchanting property has been designed and presented to the highest standard with your relaxation and enjoyment in mind. There are stone floors with underfloor heating throughout powered by a green energy heating system, and high ceilings add to the sense of space and light. Step in through the front door to find the hallway with a useful seat for removing walking boots and a hanging space for your outdoor clothing. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner features a cosy wood burner for romantic evenings snuggling up on the sofa to watch a movie on the Smart TV. The contemporary kitchen is well equipped for preparing all your meals and has ample storage space. There is a small dining table with two chairs where you can eat and enjoy a view of the garden. Wall-to-wall bi-fold doors allow natural light to flood into the room and open onto the spacious garden for that outdoor/indoor feeling. Head through to the warm and inviting bedroom with a king-size bed, freestanding bath and an original feature fireplace. A step leads to the luxurious en-suite comprising a large, wet-room style shower and WC.

Outside, the enclosed garden and patio provide a private and tranquil area to extend your days with plenty of garden furniture, where you can dine alfresco and relax and watch the visiting birdlife. There is a private, covered gazebo in a corner of the garden with seating and a wood burner where you can cuddle up with a hot chocolate before bedtime. Borrow the e-bikes to explore the area or store your own bicycles in the bike store.

The cottage is clean comfortable and well appointed. Situated on the edge of a quiet village but close to local attractions. The hosts Andrea and David are very pleasant and helpful. We would highly recommend staying at the 'bed in the shed' if you are looking to visit the area. Josie and Ray

Cottage beautifully and considerately decorated to a high standard. The best stocked of everything youd need weve come across. Beautiful private garden space. Not just dog friendly, but dog welcomed. Had the best 4 nights staying in this amazing accommodation. Top quality finishes and the hosts have thought of everything to ensure a fantastic stay, including home made scones cream and jam and a lovely hamper of treats. This is a quality accommodation and situated in a very quiet and private location. The owners live on site so nothing is too much bother. Everything is top quality, you really can feel a lot of thought and effort has gone into the place by the owners. Our second visit here and it was another lovely relaxing holiday. We loved taking Jax out for walks and the weather was perfect. Andrea and David were so lovely and made us feel very at home. We stayed at the shed for five nights but would have loved to stay longer. A fabulous find. Everything you would require for a self catering holiday, including a welcome basket of goodies and delicious warm scones. Very close to Durham and A1(M) so lots of great visits nearby. Can recommend Raby Castle after it's recent garden refurbishment and of course Durham Cathedral is a must. A beautiful property, superbly decorated with a high level of comfort and .includes a lovely garden. The owners have given a great deal of thought to making sure that every requirement is catered for, and their welcome pack was extremely generous.

We stayed at Bed in the Shed 1st-5th July and had a great time. The location is great, very quiet with great dog walking trails nearby, which suited our reactive dog. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need, spotlessly clean & has a fantastic garden which our dog loved. The host we met was very friendly and not at all intrusive.Read more We'll definitely be returning! Great cottage for everyone but especially people who's dogs are nervous/reactive! Hide
