Property code: OC-IC004

This pretty cottage puts you in the box seat to take in the best of Shanklin. It’s just a short stroll to the historic village centre, with its thatched cottages, traditional shops and welcoming pubs and cafes. The sandy beach is a short walk away and ideal for paddling and swimming. Or take in the coastal sights from the cliff path for beautiful views across Sandown Bay to the white cliffs of Culver. The beautiful chine - floodlit in the evening - serves up more camera fodder for photography fans. And if you’re bringing the car, you can visit both the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary and Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club within a short drive. Alternatively there are a range of bus routes available from a convenient stop next to the cottage including the number 22, Shanklin Shuttle and Island Coaster buses.

As for the cottage itself, it has all you need for a cosy stay. It is one of two adjoining cottages and the entrance takes you straight into the hallway. Walk through into the spacious lounge/dining room and you’ll be greeted by comfortable sofas for gathering around the TV/DVD. The beautiful dining area is by the large bay window where you can look out over the front garden while lots of natural light floods in. Head through to the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up something tasty. You’ll find an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher plus a breakfast area. Adjoining the kitchen is a utility area with a washing machine and small counter top freezer as well as a cloakroom with WC. A set of stairs leads up to two attractive bedrooms - one double and one twin. There’s also a bathroom with a bath, separate shower and WC.

The cottage has beautiful gardens at the front and side which is fenced and gated and catches the evening sun as it sets over the downs. It’s a wonderful space for al fresco dining - and you’ll find garden furniture as well as a barbecue to help you do just that. The garden also has two sun loungers and a washing line with pegs provided. As for parking, there’s space for one car in the driveway. Additional vehicles can be parked in the quiet roads nearby.

Apple Tree Lodge is a lovely warm and spacious house with everything you need. Perfect location for the beach and for visiting all the attractions of the island ( Shanklin Theatre, The Needles, Osborne House, Donkey Sanctuary and the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary to name just a few). Will definitely be coming back.

The cottage was absolutely excellent, great location for the local shops, the old town and a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. So clean and spacious. We very much enjoyed our stay and will be recommending to friends and family if they want to stay on the Isle of Wight. All of the rooms were a great size. There were only 2 of us staying here but the coRead morettage would be more than comfortable for 4 people staying. Off-road parking was also a great bonus. Hide

A great house, very well equipped and decorated. Both comfortable and practical. The location is perfect for the cliff path, cliff lift to Shanklin esplanade, and the local shops. The owners were both friendly and helpful, going out of their way to ensure we were happy. Overall, a highly enjoyable stay and experience.

A very comfortable, clean, homely and well equipped cottage, really close to the seafront. We had a wonderful holiday walking the coastal paths. Great bus service if you wanted to leave the car at the cottage. We did some amazing walks and returned on the bus.
