Perfectly placed on the Saltmarshe estate near Howden, these lovely cottages enjoy instant access to miles of private parkland, ideal for long walks and fresh-air adventures. Howden’s welcoming high street, with its cosy cafés, traditional pubs and handy shops, is just a short hop away (4.5 miles), and Beverley is within easy reach (22 miles) for boutique shopping, dining and its well-known racecourse. For wildlife lovers, North Cave Wetlands is close by, while Market Weighton and Pocklington offer charming market-town strolls and great places to eat. If you fancy a bigger day out, The Deep in Hull, the Yorkshire Wolds and even York’s historic attractions are all comfortably accessible.

Step in to the one level, bright and spacious open-plan living space, which is at the heart of this property. An inviting lounge area with two sofas, a wood burner, Smart TV and DVD player (upon request) is subtly separated by stylish room dividers from the kitchen/diner. Orchard cottage was perfect for us. Comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and quiet outdoors garden space for our nervous dog to enjoy.

Our second Christmas at Appletree cottages and it was perfect! Spacious and quiet and well equipped. Lovely walks by the river and we enjoyed the Tractor Run in Howden. We hope to return.

The cottage is set in a lovely orchard setting. It is quite spacious as holiday rents go and the area ideal for walks as it is very flat countryside. The Trans Pennine Trail goes past the cottage alongside the river. It does have a 2 mile drive on single track roads to reach civilisation but that becomes part of the charm. Orchard Cottage provides excellent accommodation in a wonderful setting. We immediately felt at home due to the attention to detail from the owners and the friendly welcome. I am sure we will return in the future.

A superb cottage. Decor, comfort, fabulous bed, Helpful and friendly owner. Beautiful situation with parkland all around. The log fire was a boon during a bitterly cold and snowy spell while we were in Orchard Cottage. All was beautiful!

Lovely stay at Orchard Cottage. Everything was excellent, clean tidy and all the amenities we needed. Set in a lovely area by the river, great for dog walks. Plenty of shops and places to eat in nearby Howden. . Would definitely stay there again.

A lovely, very comfortable and clean cottage with an excellent level of equipment. Friendly and helpful owner. A great place to stay.
