A detached stone cottage dating back to 1850, this inviting retreat has been carefully modernised and makes a fabulous base for couples, friends or families looking to get out and about in spectacular countryside. It’s just 2.5 miles from the vibrant market town of Keswick, where you’ll find a variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, as well as opportunities for outdoor activities. For walkers, Skiddaw, Latrigg, and Carlside fells are all accessible from your door, while Catbells is only 5 miles away. As for water-based activities on Derwentwater, if you don’t fancy kayaking, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, swimming or rowing, you could also have a peaceful day fishing, enjoying a picnic with an unforgettable view or hopping aboard one of the regular launches for a cruise across the water. There’s mountain biking at Whinlatter Forest (7 miles), where you’ll also find Go Ape’s tree-top courses and zip wires.

From the front door, hang your coats in the hall and head straight through to the back of the house. In the spacious lounge/diner, a wood burner surrounded by soft seating beckons you to curl up and unwind, whether with a book, a cup of coffee or a show on the Smart TV. Art on the walls, colourful soft furnishings and shelves full of books give this room a real home-from-home feel, and when you’re ready to serve up a delicious meal, there’s plenty of space to gather around the sturdy timber dining table. Cooking is easy in the adjacent kitchen, which features Shaker-style, painted cabinets and an array of appliances, including a microwave and a dishwasher. When you start to yawn, choose from three handsome bedrooms, all on the same level. The master bedroom is a king-size with an en-suite shower room, while the others – a second king-size and a welcoming twin – share a sleek family bathroom.

The huge, fully enclosed garden includes a patio and BBQ for al fresco drinks and dining, whether you want to enjoy the morning light over the fells or the clear night sky filled with stars. At a raised level is a large area of lawn, perfect for little ones or pets to run and play. For those bringing bikes, storage is available, and there’s also room for three cars to park on the drive.

Red Lodge House was a really homely, comfortable cottage where you can see the owners take pride and care that customers will have a fantastic experience. Everything you need , plenty of space, beds are so comfortable and the interior decoration furnishings are modern but still really like home. The cottage has a lovely feel, great outside space anRead mored plenty of room for your dogs best dog friendly cottage weve been to . You usually get a great long list of dont in welcome pack not here your best friends are extremely welcome and encouraged to make themselves at home. Lovely little touches like a pint of milk , bottles wine dog treats and biscuits left for your arrival even an umbrella hanging in the hallway all the little things that make a different. The bathrooms are lovely and all the appliances are top spec. We instantly felt at home and very comfortable and it was a pleasure to come home at night after a long day. You can walk from the property but it is on the A591 so we got in the car to explore. We used the massive secure garden which our dog loved and the outside garden furniture was lovely and we were not disturbed by traffic noise at all. Another plus for dog owners is the main living areas have wooden floors so wipeable if you need dogs discouraged from carpeted areas which were only the three bedrooms. We had a 5 star holiday we loved this cottage and will be recommending to our family and friends. More than ample parking too all secure. Plenty of pubs and food just down the road in Keswick, The Pheasant just around Bassenthwaite really good food too. Access to Skiddaw just down the road. Property is nicely warm didnt light the log burner but it was all set up. Absolutely Brilliant!!!! Hide
