For a Welsh holiday of big skies, fresh air and far-reaching views over the Black Mountains, stay at this beautifully restored cottage, situated on the edge of a working farm. The quaint two-bedroom bungalow is tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Llangasty Talyllyn within the Brecon Beacons National Park – perfect for couples, small families or friends (and their four-legged companions). Head to the vibrant market town of Brecon (6.5 miles), home to the South Wales Borderers Museum and a canal basin. Hay-on-Wye (15 miles) is famed for its bookshops, arts scene and annual literary festival. Head to Crickhowell (8.5 miles), set in the Usk Valley, for independent shops, welcoming pubs and award-winning eateries. Outdoor enthusiasts will love Llangorse Lake, less than 0.5 miles walk away, the largest natural lake in South Wales, where you can enjoy water sports and wildlife spotting. Walkers will be keen to explore miles of trails from the doorstep including The Allt yr Esgair with beautiful views over Llangorse Lake and the Usk Valley, or head to Talybont (4.5 miles) for peaceful waterfalls.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a bright and sociable open-plan living space which is perfect for relaxing with fellow guests. The lounge area has a warming wood burner and a Smart TV for cosy evenings. French doors open onto the terrace, perfectly framing those mountain views. Enjoy leisurely meals at the gorgeous wooden table, next to the bay window. The contemporary kitchen area, complete with a breakfast bar for perching with snacks, keeps everything within easy reach. A short hallway leads to two inviting bedrooms: one king-size and one flexible king-size zip-and-link that can be arranged as twins on request. Both have countryside outlooks to wake up to each morning. Completing the interior is a stylish shower room with a spacious walk-in shower and WC.

Outside, the cottage is surrounded by mature, enclosed gardens that help you make the most of the spectacular setting. The terrace is wonderful for gathering together, with outdoor seating for al fresco dining and a charcoal BBQ so you can cook alfresco. The garden is enclosed, so it’s ideal for dogs, who’ll love running around on the large lawn. Private off-road parking for four cars makes arrivals and departures straightforward.

Dan Y Allt is a great place to stay, clean modern accommodation, newly decorated and comfortably furnished. The views of the Brecon Beacons are fabulous. It had a great secure garden for Gemma, our dog, with terrace and outdoor seating. The bed was extremely comfortable, the kitchen very well equipped. Although the property has a washing machine anRead mored laundry liquid was provided there was no means to drying the clothes (inside or out) but we found that Beacons Laundry in Brecon do service washes. Sarah, the owner, was lovely along with her 4 dogs, and couldnt have been more helpful. The freshly arranged flowers and welcome pack was really appreciated. We wish Sarah every success as this is a new holiday let. Hide
