Situated in this charming Cornish fishing village of Polruan, this traditional cottage is perfect for a coastal family holiday and is less than 200 metres from Polruan Landing where guests can take the passenger ferry to Fowey to experience the bars, restaurants and shops. The starting point for the South West Coast Path can be found at the top of St Saviour’s Hill where you can take in some stunning coastal and countryside scenery and enjoy a walk or a cycle. For a day out, why not drive to Bodinnick where you will find ‘Ferryside’, previously the home of Daphne du Maurier, where she wrote her first book. Further afield there are plenty of places to visit and things to do, why take the brewery tour in St Austell (19 miles) or visit the Eden project and/or the Lost Gardens of Heligan (25 miles).

This traditional cottage is beautifully finished inside and has accommodation spread over three floors. On entering the property, you will find yourself in the welcoming kitchen/diner, which is well equipped with everything you could need for a self-catering stay and there’s plenty of room to both cook and eat with a dining table seating six. The lounge is a bright and cosy space with plenty of seating and a multi fuel stove to cosy up around after a day’s exploring. There’s also a TV if you fancy watching a film or you can admire the fantastic views from the window seat. Upstairs on the first floor are two bedrooms, both beautifully finished with little thoughtful touches and king-size beds. They also have wonderful views of the river and the master bedroom has a wall mounted smart TV. There is also a shower room/WC on the first floor. Up another staircase to the second floor is a very pretty and light twin bedroom, again with waterside views, from which you can access the family bathroom, complete with bath for a relaxing soak.

Stepping outside to the front of the property, which is accessible from the kitchen/diner, there is a terrace with garden furniture and more of those views, making it an ideal spot for some lunch or afternoon tea.

  • 3 bedrooms – 2 kings, 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 bathroom with bath, hand-held shower attachment and WC, 1 shower room with WC (please note, the bathroom is accessed via bedroom 3)
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher
  • Washing machine in bathroom
  • Highchair available
  • Multi-fuel stove
  • Smart TV in sitting room and master bedroom
  • Front terrace with garden views
  • Parking in nearby car parks; you can unload your car in East Street. Parking available on the Quay or St Saviour’s Hill car park (both require payment)
  • Shops, pubs and tidal beach all less than 500m
  • Please note, there are a total 41 steps up to the property and inside the property there is a steep staircase so it may not be suitable for some guests
  • Polruan is a quaint village on a steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging. Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via steps/ slopes, some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.

Amelia Cottage really is quintessentially Cornish. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and gorgeous bedding. Very quirky with sloping ceilings and relatively steep stairs, beautifully decorated and excellent book choices. All booking info from the owner was as described, very informative. Gorgeous walks along coastal path, parking at the top of hill, very good value - lots of steps to cottage, but none of us were in a rush - would absolutely come back Hide

Absolutely stunning cottage - photos do not do it justice! Incredibly comfortable beds, clean and new bathroom/shower room, gorgeous views from all rooms. The shower room is accessible for both rooms on the 1st floor which was really handy. We managed to park 2 cars on the quay every day, but the Lugger Inn there had been temporarily closed so thatRead more may have been why. Super easy to jump on the ferry to get to Fowey for dinners, and the Russell Inn down the road from the cottage also did great food. Owner reached out to check all was ok. This cottage is absolutely marvellous! Perfect for anyone seeking a typically Cornish seaside stay. Don't be perturbed by the lack of parking, as there are free/paid spaces around the village. Thank you very much, we'll be back!

We had a lovely stay at Amelia Cottage, a real home away from home and we'd love to come back! The cottage was exceptionally clean and cosy and the location was ideal. Our son loved looking out and watching all the boats. The walking trails were good and the views were amazing. Polruan does have a space in our hearts now <3

The cottage was amazing with great views over the estuary. Probably one of the best views I have seen over 30 years. The cottage is lovely, in an amazing condition. This cottage is perfect for two couples with two children. Bathroom and shower room were also fantastic and I would definitely stay again.

This is a beautiful cottage in the heart of Polruan. Well equipped, tastefully furnished, comfortable beds and bedding. Can't fault it! We especially liked the sunny terrace with view of the village and estuary. Great location for exploring this part of South Cornwall by car, by foot or on the water.

We loved our stay at Amelia Cottage. It had amazing views over the harbour, and really enjoyed watching the comings and goings on the water. The Cottage had everything we needed. The bedrooms were very pretty, and the shower room felt very new and fresh. Unloading was easy at the end of East Street. We would definitely book again.
