The lovely village of Great Ryburgh is ideal for exploring the heart of the Norfolk countryside. There is a Raptor watch point just on the edge of the village where you can regularly spot buzzards, hobbies and sparrowhawks. Nearby are the thriving market towns of Fakenham and Dereham, or you could head to the coast and discover the beaches and quaint harbour towns and resorts of Hunstanton, Wells-next-the-Sea, Sheringham and Brancaster. There are plenty of quaint villages to explore inland including the medieval pilgrim village of Little Walsingham. You will also be ideally situated for enjoying the beautiful Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Among nearby attractions are Holkham Hall, Pensthorpe Natural Park, the Holkham Estate and Sandringham.

On entering this delightful country cottage you will find yourself in the light and spacious lounge. With plenty of comfy seating, TV/DVD and a flame effect gas fire set in a large inglenook feature fireplace, the comfortable and welcoming lounge is an ideal space to relax in. A washing machine and freezer are housed in the laundry room at the back of the cottage. There is also a ground-floor WC. Steep cupboard stairs lead you up from the lounge to the first floor; please be aware that these are quite steep cottage-style stairs with a twist, which may be unsuitable for the elderly or the very young. On the first floor you will find three cosy bedrooms: there’s a double room with a king-size bed, a twin room and a single room. You will also find a bathroom complete with a free standing roll top bath, double walk in shower, WC and wash hand basin. Please note there are some low ceilings, particularly upstairs.

Stepping outside, you will find a lovely, well-stocked garden which extends to half an acre, and backs onto the river,  lie in the hammock, or sit out on the decking taking in the lovely views and wildlife. There are shrubs and planted beds as well as a well-kept lawn. The garden is enclosed and access to the river is through a gate. There is parking off-road at the front of the house for two cars.

Nice little cottage with large garden and lovely riverside position. Low beams, steep winding stairs and low sofa may be tricky for elderly people. Beware, village pub is closed and nearest pub and local fish and chip shop only serve meals a few evenings a week.

This is our second visit to River Cottage and once again it was a treat. Having such a lovely garden to spend time in and to be able to sit by the river is wonderful, and our dogs especially enjoyed it. The low doorways and the steep stairs might be a bit of an issue for some but the rest of the cottage and it's garden are worth these minor inconvRead moreeniences. There is a small pond in the garden which isn't mentioned in the details for this cottage and isn't fenced off - both of our dogs managed to get themselves in it and weren't a pleasant colour or smell afterwards! A beautiful cottage and wonderfully large garden. The kitchen is equipped with an impressive range of utensils, crockery, pans and white goods. A vast collection of board games, books and DVDs are available to enjoy. A perfect home-from-home property.

Disappointed with cottage and grounds, in need of some TLC. Sofa very uncomfortable, too low and offers no back support so unsuitable for older generation. Bed also uncomfortable. Stairs steep with no handrail so again not ideal for anyone who struggles with mobility. River unfishable due to weeds and overhanging branches. Images on website not truRead moree representation of current state. Lastly, traffic was a nuisance, HGVs rattling through lane from 5 am onwards mostly from factory in village. Hide

What a lovely, comfortable & well equipped property River Cottage is. Sitting on the bench by the river was a delight, simply chilling out, especially as the weather was so good all week! It's in a good location for visiting the Coast, Sandringham, Holkham Hall & the Broads too. This was our second time here & we can't wait to come back next year.

Cottage and grounds are stunning, but it does need some t l c as sofa and beds are uncomfortable, stained pillows, sheets did not fit on bed, and be very careful as stairs are very very steep.

Comfortable cottage with the river at the back of the garden. The website info said pub nearby but when we went to the pub it was closed. We were then told by locals that it had been mostly closed for the last couple of years! It also says in the cottage information book about the pub and that it serves food. This had a very negative effect on our Read moreholiday as I like to have a pub in the village I stay to avoid taking the car. It also mentions a butcher but locals say that's been closed for years!
